The one thing I am thinking about right now is that at that point in time I believe VR would have advanced enough to cover bigger Open World games like GTA, imagine GTA games being entirely done in VR?

I really wanted to like VR, and kept saying back in 2015 or whenever, that I would wait until 2020 when the tech is better to buy a headset. 

 

Still haven't done so, and will probably wait for VR's successor, be it a (NONINVASIVE BECAUSE THERE'S NO WAY I'M GETTING MY HEAD DRILLED) brain computer interface, or nanobots, or whatever else might be out there...

 

The problem is, at least for me, no games I really would want besides Half Life. The thing is no one has solved how to do VR on foot. It works in vehicles, but on foot wouldn't feel right as your legs wouldn't be moving. I heard this causes some extreme motion sickness, but no idea how true that is.

Well, Rockstar won't make back-to-back GTAs nowadays. So, the safest bet is Red Dead 3. I wouldn't be surprised if they did something different, but that's unlikely imo.

I don't see them making RDR3, simply because online was a flop and they abandoned it. I see them going with 2 smaller projects next. While I'm not interested whatsoever, I agree that Bully 2 is likely. The other? No idea but I would hope for a Manhunt remake (maybe followed by a REAL sequel). The first game was amazing. Manhunt 2 on the other hand was terrible.

Sure, but at the same time it is hard to ignore the fact that Red Dead as an IP has had tremendous growth and success as a single player experience. 60 million copes sold across three (but let's be real it's mainly two) and a latest installment that is a top ten best selling game of all time in under four years all while being a pretty niche setting is nothing to scoff at. 

 

As for what Rockstar will make going forward after VI, I have no idea. Of their existing IPs beyond GTA and Red Dead, only Bully to me has a chance to come back in a significant way. Even then, I still think it is unlikely. LA Noire isn't really a Rockstar Game and Team Bondi is long gone. Midnight Club has too much competition and is too derivative of the modern GTA formula and style to get anything substantial in my opinion. Max Payne is interesting, but besides the Remedy Remakes, I don't think we see anything new. Max Payne III, despite the love it gets, was still a financial disappointment for Rockstar. Besides, Max has had a nice sendoff and conclusion. Manhunt, well, only in your dreams. 

 

Maybe Red Dead could become an IP for settings beyond a Western Period. Kinda like how Assassin's Creed moved beyond The Crusades to explore similar themes and ideas. Just a thought.

I would rather this to be the last GTA and they just add LC to It. Just give me variety, I don't want to wait 10 years to get a different place

After GTA VI they should try to use a brand new city. There are so many cities in the US they could use like Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit, Seattle, Phoenix, Boston, Denver, New Orleans, Washington D.C etc...

Safe to say that GTA 6 will last more than 10 years at a minimum. They're definitely future proofing it given how successful GTA Online was.

as long as they bring out updates that actually add to the map. playing the same map with no major changes for years is super boring... or just take a plane at airport to a new area, whatever. i dislike updates that only bring a new heist or something.. just ways to add to a boring grind to get the stuff you want to have actual fun with.

Red Dead 1 and 2 actually sold over 68m units combined. Pretty amazing results I'd say. I'm confident that GTA and RDR will stay as R*'s primary IPs for a long time.

Actually, the guy who wrote and directed L.A. Noire, Brendan McNamara, is still working with Rockstar on their VR projects (VR Case Files and the upcoming SA VR). Video Games Deluxe is their new studio. I'd guess some ex Team Bondi members are also involved there.

 

And, L.A. Noire is the only PS3/360 era Rockstar game that has a native port on PS4/XOne, apart from GTAV. I guess it not being a RAGE game has something to do with that, but it's noteworthy nonetheless. Of all their existing IPs, only L.A. Noire's tone and direction fit modern R* imo (Bully too, to a lesser extent).
