Either Rockstar makes their own RP mode, or they can expect the community to create those. Isn't the reason why GTA V is one of the most livestreamed games on Twitch because of those custom multiplayer clients and the roleplay servers on them? I don't think they would have anywhere near the amount of players they do now on GTAV if they had banned FiveM and all the other custom clients. That's probably the only reason Take-Two still allows those clients to exist.

Wonder if maybe there was a casting call or something where they used the likeness of Ryan and Eva as an example - and through the grapevine it turned into a rumour that Ryan and Eva were hired for the project. Someone somewhere got something right back in 2016 if both their likeness from that movie somewhat resembles Jason and Lucia.

If you base your interest in the game in Twitch numbers this makes sense, but otherwise no lmao Steam player numbers don't even count FiveM since it's a different app id.

The thing is... if the source code really is out there Take-Two will be searching for any sort of mods, cheat menus, alternate modes to its original online mode, I can see this at least for the first 5 years until they chill out a little because the next game (RDR3 or new franchise) is coming.

Ah, didn't think about them. I was referring mainly to the PC player base.  GTA Online is obviously going to be most popular since it's in the game and does not require you to install a custom client, but custom clients are still incredibly popular on PC. Lots of people (I know a bunch of them) bought GTAV on PC just so they could play FiveM.

 

Rockstar & Take-Two should embrace these custom gamemodes (not only RP, plenty of other popular gamemodes exist on FiveM too) and allow players to create their own via some tools. I believe I mentioned it before - something like Battlefield Portal, but more advanced. And to host those gamemodes for other players they have to pay a monthly subscription or something. Server owners already have to pay to keep their servers online, so I'm sure there wouldn't be any issue if Rockstar charged a few bucks monthly to host your server.

 

There's a lot of potential there, but also some problems, e.g. how would server owners monetize their servers? Every server on FiveM has some kind of rank for those who donate to the server owners... not sure if Rockstar/T2 would allow for something like that if they had their own custom multiplayer. Unless they could do something like Roblox does with game passes, idk

It is impossible for me to think that R*, with the most friendly managers I have seen in a long time, does not want to take advantage of a game mode such as RP. I'm not saying they'd be making a mistake if they don't, but it's a good opportunity for them. Still, even if R* decides to choose to make that choice, I'm sure the FiveM community will try to make their own SixM community.

Oh, definitely, but I feel like Take-Two would be a lot more vigilant towards any custom multiplayer clients if Rockstar had made their own. In the end, no matter how well Rockstar could possibly make their custom gamemode creation, I still don't think it could ever reach the levels of custom multiplayer clients. For example, they would never allow people to add custom vehicles to their servers (especially not real life models) whereas on FiveM RP servers you can drive BMWs, Lamborghinis, etc. Same goes for other stuff like clothing (server usually have real life brands), weapons, etc.

 

I just don't think the potential legal trouble would be worth it for them, they're probably better off keeping custom gamemodes as something unofficial, even if it means that only PC players are able to access those. It's probably even better for them since it forces people to buy the game on PC if they want to play custom servers.  Hell, who knows anymore?

That group chat has been full of sh*t for ages now, i cant even remember if it was the original. If it was that easy to find whoever brought it, TT and the FBI would have already gotten to them. I think i was 9 when GTA1 came out, 13 at GTA3 and I'm in my mid 30's now.

 

Hopefully it comes out before I become a 40 year old GTA6 virgin.
