GTA 4's DLCs were set in the same year of the main game, what you're talking about lol.

Yes it is the same year but didn't mean it is fully copy pasted and they didn't do anything on it, that's why I said they have to cut online updates, it needs like 1 year or so to do.

Β

EFLC had entirely different music, weapons, and like 40 new vehicles, some areas accessible, 30 story missions in each, TBoGT had a new 100% system, they also had different voice acting. Not much different from what I am saying they can do, just more areas have to be changed that's all. Also it is the 1980's, not 100 years ago, not much has changed. The old buildings still exist from that time, just smaller newer areas and newer buildings have to be changed. And hey they c*nt cut a bit of the map..Have Vice City, a bit of outside area and the islands not all of it.

First of all, when The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony originally launched they still used the same radio stations of the main game, only when both of them released as a separate game from the main one under the Episodes from Liberty City package that they received new radio stations and that was in 2010 already, so it didn't only take Rockstar 1 year to make all of this, it actually took them almost 2, not to mention that a different time period requires major changes to the city, npcs, npc dialogues (which were mostly the same as the base GTA 4 ones on its DLCs, excepting for the clubhouses, nightclubs and other added places), with the changes in the city Rockstar would have to make different npc paths both on foot and on traffic, get rid of modern technology present in game such as the CCTV cameras, cellphones, modern TVs, yada yada yada, I could go on for days here talking about the necessary changes and such things are linked deeply to other things in the game's codes and files which would require a lot of work to undo them.

No but seriously what sort of major updates can the Online have? That will be taking a long time to do? They milked GTA Online so damn much the past 10 years, are they gonna do the same here for another 10 years?

A DLC for GTA 6 set in the late 20th Century would require at least 3-4 years of hard work to make the necessary changes to Vice City and its surroundings, that's all I'm saying.

Has there been any suggestion of a RDR2 release for PS5?

They only stopped working directly on RDR2 because of GTA VI. They are going back to splitted teams after GTAΒ΄s release and both games will be updated till a new one is in Developement.

I don't think RDR2/RDO (or even GTAO) will see any real support after VI comes out, and the bulk of their team will move onto their next game.

North Yankton was nothing but a few streets and an interior. Nobody's talking about anything like that or Guarma. Some people want a large portion of the game to be set in the past, which is technically doable but completely unnecessary from Rockstar's perspective.

Full scale map is too expensive to make and develop, that I agree. But for a small scale thing it's totally doable.

If Rockstar wanna do some sort of prologue for GTA 6 like they did for GTA 5 then fine, but personally I don't see the need for it.

Yes, but you're not the one to decide if a story needs a prologue to be done in a way rather than another unless you're writing it :kekw:

We can safely say it's not beta because of how clearly unfinished the assets are. Quite a few assets are placeholders, either from GTA V or simple blockouts. We can expect all the assets to be made to current gen specifications by release. Beta in gamedev terms essentially means that everything that is planned to be in the game is more or less in place, and it's mainly focused on bugfixes, smaller tweaks and polish. The fact that so many assets aren't finished means that they're still well before that point in development. Bear in mind that active development on GTA 6 could have only really started after the release of RDR2 in late 2018, so we're probably about 4 years into what will likely be a 6 or 7 year development cycle. In that sense, a lot of progress has apparently been made, because while it's clearly unfinished it's also got a lot of systems in place, and of course the game world is blocked out pretty early into development. There's a lot of prototyping in early development and if I had to guess, I'd say the footage is at the tail end of that stage, where a lot of prototyping and brainstorming of features has been done and the features that they've decided to keep and focus on are being gradually finalized. Given the timing of R*'s official announcement of GTA 6 early this year, it seems like they may have been planning a teaser either late this year or sometime next year (although it's unclear how the recent leaks have affected their expected timeline). Then, from the first teaser, I expect about another 2 years or so before the actual release, possibly more depending on delays. This is relying more on my experience with R*'s approach to marketing than my knowledge of gamedev though.

Thank you for going the extra mile, I appreciate it πŸ‘.

2 years? Sheesh. I'm guessing we won't get a trailer anytime soon. Maybe a logo reveal and some location screens... ?

Let's just assume Rockstar listened.

Β

GTA Online (2 or whatever it will be) will not go for another 10 years.

A bit more support to RDO, giving a few more major updates.

Storymode DLCs for GTA VI

We will get newer games a bit sooner.

I just won't go crying if GTA 6 don't have a prologue set in 1987 where we play as Jason's father getting raped and shot in the head to give us some useless revenge urge, that's all.

We had a past prologue in GTA V, no more of that, I prefer the story set in real time and develops, whatever year. I want to see how Jason and Lucia meet

It might be a little late now, but, I think that when discussing about specific things from the leaked footage, we should all use the 'spoiler' tag for those trying to avoid spoilers.Β

Β

That being said...

Spoiler

I really hope the RDR2 easter egg is going to be include in the final game and it wasn't just a developer testing stuff.

I think that the new GTA will introduce new mechanics. So, these new mechanics is likely be in the new Online.

Β

And well, It's presumible that many modes in the current Online be also in the new Online (races modes, shoting modes, business...)

Β

And I think that we will have again almost ten years of Online before GTA VII xD (they are going to have to amortize the cost of GTA VI... although, perhaps is already amortized with the current GTA Online hahahahaha)

No and that's a crime against that game, as soon as they release a 60Fps patch for it it will start competing with current gen games (it already looks better than a lot of them)

Well, I meant 2 years out from the teaser trailer. GTA V and RDR 2 both released about two years after their first trailers, so I'm just using that trend to estimate the space between an official reveal of the game and the game's release. Obviously I can't know with certainty that GTA VI will follow that trend. Though, I feel like the release being 2 or 3 years from now lines up well enough with the stage of development we see in the leaked footage, the most recent of which is from approximately 11 days ago. But, I'm not well-versed enough in gamedev, nor R*'s specific development pipeline, to say anything too concrete here. I don't know what GTA V really looked like when they did the reveal trailer, how unfinished the things they didn't show were. So it's hard to say how likely a reveal trailer later this year is, considering some parts of the footage definitely look good enough to put in a trailer, while others are clearly not ready not to be shown. Personally I'm expecting a reveal trailer to happen not this year, but maybe early next year. Then release in late 2024 or 2025. That's assuming that the leaks didn't catastrophically affect the time-table, which from R*'s statement sounds like it might not be the case, but who knows at this point really.
