R* promo stuff is all done by NYC to my knowledge.

Trailers also aren't made in days, they take months and in some cases years to make. They'll have been making trailers for VI's reveal for yonks, constantly iterating and trying to nail that perfect trailer.

If the October theories are true I don't think they'll panic and move that forward, and this may in fact delay it if the dust hasn't settled by then.

Though saying all that I wouldn't be that surprised if they drop a few screenshots sometime soon just to quell the dense f*ckers who keep talking about the visuals, but I can't see them rushing a trailer out.

If the trailer was planned in October, then it will be released in October, the leak cannot affect the finished trailer and ready-made marketing. The leak could have sped up the announcement process to reassure people, but Rockstar said they were on track as planned, October would be the perfect time to announce it around the anniversaries of the GTA series.

A screenshot gallery is probably the safest bet on the newswire. "A look inside Grand Theft Auto VI". I highly doubt it takes years for R* to make a trailer.

It probably takes them a while to *produce* the trailer, meaning writing, deciding what they wanna show, going through versions, etc. but probably not years. I'm assuming they'll want specific things to be polished before showing off a trailer too.

One of my favorite gaming moments had to be those dust storms in Madmax (PS4) so excited there could be a massive hurricane...off in the distance... Hell.. Maybe even let it rip up the city too. Why not.

GTA6 about to be mf litty lol

You gotta remember that 1) their marketing and promo teams are full time so they're always iterating on this stuff and 2) trailers are the first thing people will see, they are MASSIVELY important and aren't whipped up in a matter of days or weeks. For most devs, especially their first trailer, they are months of work minimum.

I don't think it'd be a stretch to say that a debut trailer for a R* game is probably well over a years worth of work.

Re: the leak, they said they'd be updating us "soon", I assume that's nothing related to the game (which they said they'd reveal "when they're ready") but perhaps a postmortem of the hack with conclusions etc. much like Uber did. They probably have to release some sort of public report given the magnitude of the incident, also for investors.

I don’t think so. If it would be related to the hack then they would put that sentence in the first paragraph. Second one is completely focused on GTA VI rather than hacking

Read the reasoning instead of going "hurdur a trailer doesn't take years to make". It doesn't take years to edit a trailer no, but it can take a year+ to figure out their debut trailer, the direction, the shots, the music. This entire process will start well before the games reveal as they try out various different ideas for trailers. They don't just whip up one and go "that'll do", they'll iterate and iterate and iterate. For a studio like R* that take this long to make a game, the creation of marketing material probably begins years before release. This doesn't necessarily mean the final marketing material we'll see, but again, they'll be trying out ideas, iterating, etc.

Unless of course you think R*'s marketing teams are just sat twiddling their thumbs and getting a paycheck every month instead.

Seems like people noticed already an easter egg for GTA VI. A werewolf.

What parts of Florida/Miami y'all think they'll show in the trailers. Certainly, they'll show part of the beach front. I forget what it's called now, but where the first safehouse is in Vice City. That's practically a must. I may be drinking don't judge me..

If they stick to vice city anniversary, no matter what weekdays we will have, i could see them doing a logo reveal etc close before the anniversary, then on the anniversary newswire article about gta6 with a few screenshots and trailer date announcement, followed by the actual trailer some days later

Dunno what forums you're use to using if you're scared of being banned for questioning a forum mod's opinion, but it can't be any good ones.

They‘d definitely give us a glimpse at the suburbs/redneck areas. (Assuming that’s where Jason comes from)

I think it is indeed related to the hack. Otherwise, they'd have just said that 'We will properly introduce you to this next game very soon when it is ready', but instead, they separated the updating soon and proper introduction part- 'We will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this next game when it is ready'.

The thing is, modeling realistic gore and dismemberment really takes a mental toll on some developers since they have to watch really "intensive" source material to get it right. Things like realistic chainsaw mutilation would basically require someone at Rockstar to watch Mexican Cartel-tier footage and that sh*t is something that will haunt any normal person even after short clips. Many gorehead edgelords on the internet who always beg for ultra realistic dismemberment in games seem to forget that most people don't frequent shock sites. That said, RDR2 did have some pretty intense body mutilation models so maybe they can recycle them to some capacity.

yeah, i have seen some of those awful cartel videos, and they make me sick to my stomach... I am not asking for that kind of detail. They have done it for RDR2 already, so having it on that same level should be doable for them. It does not need to be ultra realistic to me. Just better than gta v, is all

re; gore

RDR2's was a good balance I thought. Realistic gore has no place in GTA, like actually realistic, but Tarantino style gore which is sorta what RDR2 has can work. Blowing limbs off with a shotgun isn't realistic for example, but it looks good.

just the clothes Jason wears and because he's white people assume he's a redneck??? , I see no redneck in that guy. He and Lucia just seem poor at the start that's what it seems to me.

Just going with what other people say. It didn’t really stick out to me either, but going off the Jay Norris leak video - assuming those are his buddies/acquaintances, then, yeah - he might be a redneck. He might be daddy‘s boy for all we know - and what the f*ck do we know, lol

but you know, no limbs blowing off from a rockets launcher or big explosion feels kinda... lame

My initial thoughts too, but with the level of information we have, I might as well just go with the flow and be wrong in the end.

I still interpret it like “of course we will update you again soon and properly introduce the game.” Little confusing sentence from R* as usual

Perhaps, good ragdolls are usually where they fill the gaps there.

I'm not someone who is in the camp of more gore the better as I don't think it suits every game, even 18+, I think it has to suit the mood and atmosphere. Like blowing limbs of people works well in say a zombie game (L4D pipe bombs are amazing still) but in GTA I don't think it works as well.

I'm not even sure VI will have RDR2's level of gore cause I think the setting and atmosphere of RDR2 was more brutal and harsh where as GTA's tone and atmosphere is usually lighter and more vibrant.

I'd say it depends on the game. III had a pretty dark atmosphere, and we were able to blow off people's limbs there. In my opinion it should've also been implemented in GTA IV since it also had a pretty dark theme and atmosphere, not sure why they didn't (unless it was technical limitations or something along those lines). As for GTA VI... I'd love to see the same amount of gore as in RDR2, it'd be ideal (especially if it was toggleable), but I'll understand (and probably feel a bit let down) if they choose not to implement it there.
