Are people seriously STILL not getting the different GTA universes? Tommy Vercetti didn't even appear outside of VC in the 3D universe, what made anyone think he would appear in a game set in a completely different continuity where he probably doesn't even exist?

It wouldn't be the same character, though, would it? It would be a new interpretation of him for this new era. They'd share the same name, and certain other details, but it would essentially be a blank slate to tell a different story about him.

Here's the thing, Lazlow did make it from radio stations in 3d GTAs and GTAIV to a full physical appearance in GTAV, some events in GTA San Andreas were referenced in one of the updates of GTA SA, I think the rules aren't really that strict when it comes to the less important things.

 

Tommy might be referenced in a way that only fans of the series might recognize, kinda like how Niko was mentioned in GTAV's Heist prep mission without him actually being named.

 

"There was a... an Eastern-European guy making moves in Liberty City... Ah he went quiet"

 

Stuff like this, you won't know who is he talking about unless you have played GTAIV.

 

Recently Franklin said in the GTAO DLC:"this is like that sh*t that went down in Flint County back in the day" while burning the weed farm, referencing the mission with the Truth in GTA San Andreas.

 

So yeah, I think there's a chance.

First thing I thought was wow it’s feels huge, not one area seemed like the next so it seemed to be spaced out, or there’s different maps because of different states

I remember people have done a brilliant job with that one, the blueprint map from the collectors edition also helped them a lot back in the day, by the time we got the fill map, the mapping thread already had it locked down.

 

I really want to participate in the mapping thread for this one, but yesterday I was afraid a map might just get revealed and ruin the whole process but thankfully that didn't happen.

Prior leaks that turned out to be true also spoke of huge things we have not seen, separate islands. So yes we have still only seen very little.

It seems to have a lot of interiors which is nice. I’m just glad the story and a lot of the little details haven’t leaked. I’m happy we’ll be able to see those ourselves just as intended instead of in a leak.

I wanted to be part as well but would it be ethical to use the leaked footage for the mapping campaign? 
As far as I know, San Andreas was mapped with just officially released footage which makes it more fun and challenging

 The mods are gonna have a lot of issues with the no leaks policy. How are they going to police that when someone could sign up and make their Pfp an image of one of the leaked protagonists or a gif of the footage.
