Does it usually take that long?

We had the name of the Twitter person on mod approval so people wouldn't give them attention here. Because Len edited the main post with the name of that person, his post got caught up in our approval queue, it was approved as soon as we saw it.

(And the filter is removed now, it was a bit of a hassle. It worked well enough to discourage people from highlighting this guy constantly though)

Lol relax, he's obviously seeing you post this here, and it would be nice if we didn't turn the entire topic into talking about the guy and his psychotic outings in DM's. There's not a lot we can do, he's not even logged in. But there are so many info stealers all around the Internet now, that one rule is *watermark stuff*!

Stopping giving him attention is the way to go.

What was the main post of he who shall not be named?

Again, we should not be flat out discouraging people to stop posting news on other forms of social media, people can do that all they want, the issue is credit. Watermarks will either slow them down and make it more tedious for them, or force them to give credit.

I mean, it's daft it's even getting to this point as if these people literally just gave a nod to the source there would be zero issues within the community with what they're doing but hey, some people seem to be desperate to be seen as R* insiders.

This guy has been doing this for ages in the Twitter part of the community, but with making up leaks, taking things from 4chan or even faking Rockstar pages. He's also been tricked before by people sending him clearly fake stuff that he just posted, it's just extended to here again now.

What's daftest is why somebody would actively choose not to just cite sources. Doing that gets you more respect, which brings with it more followers. Which is ultimately what they're after. Working WITH people is what gets you ahead in life. Not stealing from others and hiding it. It's baffling they can't see that. Are they too afraid to admit they didn't find it? Scared people will like the source more than them? Maybe they're just afraid of being shown up, by others.

it's just really weird they're afraid to work with a community and be a part of it. And would prefer to ostracise themselves. Dead weird.

He probably wants people to think that he found the info by himself. Just like what Jason said

Yeah, I made this point, too.

It's attention seeking. They could be part of this community, helping out. And sure, even reporting on credible leaks, to spread awareness. Look at Rockstar centric YouTubers like BadgerGoodger. They do good work, don't post clickbait, cite sources and are highly respected and liked within the community.

This person wants the 'likes & followers' for themselves. Are unwilling to cooperate, and openly lie about things. They're likely a young narcissistic wannabe on Twitter. People like these come and go all the time. If you burn all your bridges, people won't stick around and respect you in the future. I'd hope they learn this lesson before it's too late. But I have zero faith in that.

I've literally only ever found one thing, and that was Leah Sokolowski's podcast. But even that was on the back of that scouting leak, someone posted. But guess what? I cited all the sources, and gave everyone credit. And nobody (to my knowledge :p) seems to hate me and I get on with most in the community. Working together is key, being art of a fun community together is key. I get along with more than a few Rockstar devs. They're great people, just don't harass them and treat them like normal people. This Twitter thief got blocked by Rockstar. At what point do you maybe decide you're doing it all wrong? 🤦‍♂️

Imagine wanting to run a community account where the community hates you. :sadkek:

Guys guys did we just forget the internet's number one rule? Just don't f*cking feed the trolls and he will go away. This parasite is enjoying the attention we're giving him rn, so we should just use the watermarks from now and move on.

Pointless when you post links and you just get your own screenshots, etc.

Is it bad for SEO if there's a feature that makes it harder for parasites to get info?

I'm talking about something like a spoiler tag for sources/links which is only visible to someone who has x reputation or y account age.
I am aware that someone who meets the criteria could still share the hidden information, but wouldn't that make the barrier to entry harder?

Ideally: "leak" with watermark + links visible to certain members only.

Game changer

R* develops game,

Game info gets leaked by some r* dude,

We post the leak on gtaforums only for old-/highrep-members,

Leak on forums gets still leaked by some member,

So its a leak inside a leak of a leak

/brain hurts :sadkek:

There's an easier online tool that can overlay images.

  1. Go to https://www.imgonline.com.ua
  2. Scroll down, select the base image first and then the overlay

  3. Don't need to touch any options
  4. Click OK
  5. Download the generated image

Easy, don't post a link then :shillkek: (send it to staff only to confirm it's real and ez. maybe it won't stop him from finding the original website, but at least he'll have to do some work himself to find it).

Exactly what I was trying to say earlier. Limit the source link to staff/high rank/old members. This will not stop them, but it will make the barrier to entry harder.

His "community" doesn't unfortunately, but at the same time his tweets don't get thaaaaaat much traction. Except when some clickbait "news" website looking for an easy article looks at his stuff and posts about it of course...

That was the reason the mod filter was on for his Twitter name, I've removed it because it was a bit of a hassle for now, but for a good while it worked so people stopped giving him attention.

Well, what about all the other genuine guests who are browsing us for info? Systems like that are always a slippery slope. It's hard to manage. Just keep watermarking and stuff. (also yes it's very bad for SEO)

I hope they announce gta 6 in an exciting way. Hey look, if they just posted it on twitter I’d still be proper excited. But imagine if they did something like a countdown or post something silly before they announce it

what if suddenly their pfp and banners go black and people are like "oh sh*t its happening", but then nothing happens next day, but then the community figures out "what if rockstar is making us wait 6 days for the big 6!? thats some good marketing bro". but nothing happens on the 6th day. they just go back to the normal logo.

That’s pretty much kind of already happened, numerous times over the past 3 years :kekw:

I have this great idea that will change the world.

What If we all just spam "ANNOUNCE GTA VI" in this thread for 2 months straight, so every time a Rockstar employee visit this thread they see how desperate we are and we magically force them to release the trailer early!!
