If you count the out of bounds area, which is used for draw distance purposes and actually is solid and detailed for a great part of it, then RDR2's map actually is considerably bigger than GTA 5's.

yeah, I've just been searching about it and there seems to be no consensus about which one is larger. Anyone of GTAF's pros did a comparison...maybe?

They did somewhere, RDR2's map is slight smaller than GTA 5's counting the officially explorable area, but way bigger considering the solid out of bounds area.

Sam Houser says...

"Grand Theft Auto V is another radical reinvention of the Grand Theft Auto universe" ..... " We are incredibly excited to share our new vision with our fans"    - GTAV

"With  Red Dead Redemption 2, the team is working hard to push forward our vision for interactive entertainment in a truly living world" ... "We hope to deliver players an epic experience that builds upon everything we’ve learned making games" - RDR2

What will be VI's statement say? let me guess......for fun

"Grand Theft Auto VI brings the most expansive, living and interactive world our team has ever built" .... "We are very excited to share our most amazing experience with the players"

🤠

It's not a big secret, that Sam is really proud of Rockstar Games. It must be one hell of a ride to see your company starting from GTA III and less than 20 years later going through RDRII and now next GTA.

yeah, basically the expansiveness of V's world/map (it's R*'s largest in terms of km^2), but even more expansive, combined with RDR2's livingness and interactiveness, but even more living and interactive.

I think that'd be a believable vision for VI. No need to reinvent the wheel. bring the goodness from this and that, mix'em and done.

It's Rockstar Games, it's not "mix'em and done". You know more than well enough, that they will aim to do something, that a lot of developers will see as something insane.

The forth A is for the people that bought GTA+ and financed GTA6's development

Speaking of this, how much are we ballparking VI's development cost at?

IV $100M

V $265M

RDR2 $540M

VI ????

Pretty sure someone did, and RDR2's map is around half the size of GTA V's. It 'feels' bigger, because you're traversing the map on horseback, which is significantly slower than a super car. Also, no massive city, that makes the countryside feel small in comparison. Not counting RDR1's map.

If the past info is correct with Rage Engine tile sizes, then you can extrapolate from this image:

Found this along the way... now with this awesome Aerial Image for RDR2, it should be fairly easy to have it become an option in any of the online Maps, right?

Has R* ever officially called the ''new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series'' GTA 6?

Nope, but multiple leaks point towards it being called GTA VI/6.

Kinda want them to just call it Grand Theft Auto and soft reboot it so the new GTAO won't be full of Saints Row tier sh*t

It's the same scale, though. It's based on the Rage tile sizes.

The SEO nightmare that would be... Even for R* lmao. I think it'll be VI but that there is a chance it could be a reboot name.

ah-shit-here-we-go-again-ah-shit.gif

This was discussed so many times here, the word "reboot" became a meme :kekw:. In a way, all "main" GTA games are kinda reboots since they are all different from each other in terms of gameplay, story, atmosphere, etc.

Not naming it Grand Theft Auto VI/6 would kind of be a mistake since just the name "GTA 6" is popular enough. That's why I believe it will 99% be called VI.

imo it doesn't sound redundant yet, Grand Theft Auto X/10 might be where they need to start doing different names.

I think they will be close to $B (billion), but I don't know if the amount will be as higher or lower as it was with RDR2.

We have been waiting for a GTA6 for 10 years and you want to take that away from us?

I've never understood why so many even think it could be just "Grand Theft Auto". Sure, other games have been rebooted, and dropped the numbers, in favour of subtitles, or just the title. God of War, for example. But GTA has never needed that. And as you point out, SEO is already set for "GTA 6". There's no valid or logical reason to drop the number... that we currently know of.

Lol, that's another reason I want it to be called GTA VI/6. It will feel a lot more satisfying when we finally get to watch an official trailer from Rockstar Games titled "Grad Theft Auto VI Trailer".

They rebooted next GTA so many times, that naming reboot would be just...another reboot :kekw:

i mean it's pretty clear to call every gta a reboot , each is like a step up from previous
gta III being the actual reboot of gta 2 , GTA IV being the reboot of entire franchise + HD Universe

For me the budget of the game marketing included will be near if not hit 1 billion, it seems crazy but pretty sure it is the biggest, longest and ambitious project R* has worked on, it also seems like they went hard on R&D for this game even more so than RDR2 and just the fact that it's a GTA game and with the results of GTA V i don't think they're scared to put that much money into it because last time they made one billion in 3 days and gaming is now even bigger and GTA as a franchise too

PS: fun fact that has nothing to do with what i said but i was playing TBOGT and on K109 Studio there was a joke about teabagging and other stuffed being banned and that made me laugh because it's actually somethings that now is considered atrocious for some, the jokes of GTA are so stupid yet they still manage to not be jokes anymore decades after lol

I wonder if any official plans have been made for the next Rockstar project yet. Assuming we get VI’s trailer later this year and a 23/24 release, would they already know their next project??

I wouldn't be surprised if they're already brainstorming ideas to figure out what their next project would be after VI. Generally their pre-production phase takes about 1.5-2 years, so probably it'll begin sometime next year.
