It's not photo-real but this is the closest a game has come imo. It's a 7 year old game too.

I mean, R* did ship RDR2 on 2 BDs for the console release. As you said, PS5 uses 128GB BDXL, so 2 of them should do the trick even if GTAVI is over 200GB in size. I'm not sure about what BD Series X uses, but even if it's 50GB BD, it could end up like how GTAV had 2 DVDs for 360 but just 1 BD for PS3.

And, at the end of the day, they could definitely force us to download the last 20-30GB if they wanted to.

PS5 uses UHD Blu-ray discs, not BDXL, I really don't know where does this info about BDXL come from.

BDXL is a disc format. 4K UHD Blu-Ray is a video format. Any 100GB triple-layer Blu-Ray disc is itself a BDXL. Theoretically, PS5 games could ship in 128GB quad-layer BDXLs in future.

Looking back at RDR2, I think Rockstar is going to put a lot of sounds and textures, that's going to make up the most of the size I bet

By the way, keep in mind that GTAV on PC was 7 discs because they were DVDs and not Blue Rays

Also because not many people had Blu-Ray drives on their PC's lol. They exist but they're a fraction of the %. Even less now, where most people no longer even have optical drives on their PC's. I don't think VI PC will have any sort of physical release.

As far as I know PS5 doesn't support quad-layer discs.

I was thinking about 100GB discs only, Rockstar would really have to go absolutely crazy with VI to fill 15 discs, 100 GB each

I think that's just because triple-layer discs are currently the industry standard due to price and availability. Sony does produce 128GB BDXLs, so I don't think there's anything stopping them from using those to ship PS5 games in future. PS5's optical drive should run them with ease.

The Rockstar Launcher took care of that possibility....

I'd still prefer a Steam account link though, even if I have to wait a few weeks longer for that possibility to appear, although I'm not sure they would do?

So ...Rockstar also leaves steam? That would suck. Now I don't think they will lose as much as ubisoft, almost nothing probably, but still people like me wouldn't like it, most GTA V players I think might be from Steam but I can't find any source for that.

I think VI will be exclusive to R* Launcher for at least 6 to 12 months, unless Epic pays them beaucoup bucks to get it during PC launch. And zero chance of any physical PC release. Goes without saying to be honest.

They've never left Steam, and my V account is on the platform, but they did an exclusive launch for RDR2 on the Rockstar Launcher, and launch on Steam after a month or so....

T2 have too much invested in Steam these days.  I don't even think they've fallen for an Epic Exclusive, have they?  Zelnik was lukewarm to it as far back as 2019.

RDR2 took a month or so to be released on Steam so... Something similar should be expected. R* have no Epic exclusives and never will as they have their own Launcher.

RDR2 was November 9th, 2019 (Elsewhere) and December 5th, 2019 (Steam) 

I can wait for a month but not 10 months...

Leaving Steam is the attempt that everyone tried but no one really succeeded.
Look at Ubisoft and EA, they tried with Uplay and Origin but ultimately returned to the ol' reliable

I want GTA VI on 150 CDs 
But seriously for years modern PC cases even doesn't have a place for DVD writer 

it's just so stupid to have a DVD writer in 2022... instead they should focus on selling physical items for their games like maps and ETC!

+ I can't imagine my games library without Steam! Pls C* don't force us to buy GTA VI on PC from your garbage launcher....(for day1 PC Release I mean)

I don't think they even said that it is gonna return to steam with RDR2 right? Then later confirmed it or I don't remember? Like ubisoft or others, so people will buy it on their launchers. Sometimes they don't even come back on steam. Annoying.

It's worth noting that Trilogy DE still hasn't been released on either Steam or EGS. I'm sure that decision has other reasons behind it , but I won't be surprised if VI is R* Launcher exclusive for the first 6-12 months.

as long as the single player experience is not locked behind an internet connection like "some" new games yeah, I copied all games on a new external I bought so I won't have to install 50-100 GB games a million times with my garbage internet. Sometimes it feels like we don't even actually own them, but most allow offline mode for single player so we still fine I think?

Choices, choices. I really like the idea of having a physical copy in my hand but I have had to replace my GTA V disk twice already. Also pre-downloading GTA two days before release is also appealing but I may receive it early anyway. I can't decide.

All I know is I'm getting the collector's edition/Collector's Box so far.

Can't recall R* saying it would never come to Steam. They did however announce on the same month of it's release, that it was coming to Steam Dec 5th.

Doubt it. IIRC the only way to ever buy GTA V on Steam is to buy it on Steam, keys bought from third party sides were installed through RSC and now the RGL I think? Plus the EGS giveaway etc.

Yeah the Steam numbers are not representative of the actual player count on PC, there's probably a lot more people on Epic after that giveaway and perhaps even the RGL. And some people in the GTA Online section still say that the PC version should be completely dropped due to cheaters and that R* might do it like they might for PS4 and Xbox One.
