Well it's just an evolution of the old grcore that (obviously) supports more features. RDR2 uses all of the features available at the time in all their glory (RDR2 is fully PBR for instance), GTA V current-gen uses some backwards compatibility whilst adding some features such as ray tracing and all the other inherent improvements to the new tech.

VI will not only use all previous stuff but probably add even more. :p

Would that mean that if GTAO gets all their textures remade and with full SGA graphics it will 'blend' more nicely with a potential addition of GTAVI's map?

I think you misread me. That's why I'm saying, I'm concurring with your point that RDR3 should focus more on single-player DLC and have the online be smaller and more compared to the first game's multiplayer. I'm not sure how you, and presumably the others, got the idea that I somehow meant that the next RDR should support online primarily over single-player.

It would look more nicer, but not really worth the effort if Rockstar could just direct all that into making VI more photorealistic. As it stands, there's a bit more to reflections within E&E, but it's disabled because the performance would tank.

These two screenshots were probably taken with Rockstar enabling those disabled settings.

The disabled settings could end up as Rockstar's way for reselling the PC version.

I don't understand why people want LS as a map expansion in VI. It's not a great map and we've been in LS for a decade with DLCs crammed in. I'd rather let it go until 2050 when R* revisits it in the 8K generation.

ngl this could be a cool intro (it's from 2017 livestram)

Funny that it's going through multiple decades just like a certain rumour for a certain game, hmm 🤔.

What if violet is not main color of GTA VI logo?🤔

My bad, I thought when you said "Red Dead is a heavy story driven game, supporting its online mode instead of story mode is a huge mistake" that you were under the impression I was saying that.

“I think photorealism is a bit of a boring goal, actually,” said Rockstar’s Dan Houser. “It’s not really a goal at all, more an inevitable technical achievement. Pushing Grand Theft Auto a bit toward photorealism has suited its grittier approach, but it’s vitally important to give the world and the characters in it their own personality. It’s just more fun, more interesting, and — to me at least — a lot more appealing.

That guy really knew what he was talking about.

You can't really achieve photorealism in a game like GTA on current hardware, and even if you could, without cohesive art direction, it could potentially turn out to be drab and generic looking. Look at RDR2, and how it takes inspiration from 19th century paintings to create beautiful and consistent visuals, which are instantly recognisable when you see a screenshot or a video.

Aaron Garbut explains it succinctly-

Quote

I've always felt we base our games on the way a place lives in your head rather than the real place, the way it feels in your memory after you've left it, where it mixes in with art, TV, music, and films you've seen. Where it stops being glass and tarmac and instead becomes something more, something less tangible but far more visceral. Where it's more about the emotions the place stirs in you, the ones that a film or a piece of music could have planted there. I don't think I can narrow that down into specifics. For me at least, the world we've built is a huge melting pot of ideas and imagery that have come from literally everywhere and anywhere.

The new Matrix is the closest we have currently. Before that people tried with FMV games in the 90s which featured videos shot in real life. Night Trap turned out to be a pretty notorious FMV game, but I think that had a decent amount of real life videos in it.

He raises an interesting point. I do find photorealism interesting in games, but I suppose they would lose the essence that makes them games if they all employed the technique. Right now it's interesting as a novelty (see the new Matrix game) but it's nothing to worry about. It might be decades before we reach photorealism.

How much space GTA VI do you think will be? I think around 110 GB and more stuff will be added for its Online if it has, it might reach 200GB or that can't happen yet it is too much? Though I am thinking they won't really make an online version of VI like we think, it will be separated with GTA Online together, they will have GTA Online be the "Project Americas" updating so once you start the game you choose which map you wanna play, Los Santos or Vice City etc. GTA Online might be seperated on PC too, it's just they will make them be connected in some way?

Oh you wish but I feel considering this is Rockstar we're talking about, they're gonna take the easy way out and just lump everything together in a 300 GB download, since that is the norm these days.

All I want is GTA VI to have a physical edition on PS5, I don't care how much time it will take to install it or how many times I will have to change the disc during setup.

Why not? People have always wanted all the cities in one game/map. Doing this, even if it's just for Online, goes to achieve that. Besides, it's a larger world to play in and more content.

Depends on the game's size tbh. A Blu-ray dual-layer disc can hold up to like 128 GB, if GTA VI is bigger then I could see physical releases not happening or being pared down, unless we go back to the PC and Xbox 360 days and they ship 2 discs. :kekw:  Perhaps it could install the majority of the game and download the last part?

I think it's possible that they will just compress it to 128GB, I'm sure it's one of their main goal to make it fit in a disc. Plus there'll be downloadable patches so... console players have been downloading games like this for a while

Less repeated assets, due tot eh SSD speeds, too. Some next-gen games are actually smaller. The well optimized ones, at least.

PS5 games use Ultra HD Blu-Ray discs and those can hold up to 100 GB of data.

Why would it be? Just release it on as many discs as necessary, what's the problem with this?

Unless the SD just uploads the digital version to your system and includes a digital license? At least you could have some cool Micro SD artwork, amirite? :bruh:
