I wonder if they'll actually release GTA 6 day one on pc. Tired question im sure but i should probably start saving for a PS5 cause i have a feeling they're not giving up the double dip. Im part of the problem for sure as i have double dipped for every Rockstar game ever but i sure as hell am not waiting another year for a game that's gonna come out 12 years after the last one...

i'd bet my first born on no, for multiple reasons.

Yeah that’s not a “double dip” lol  , a double dip would mean that RDR 2 would’ve gotten the treatment that V is getting now or even back in 2014 with the XB1/PS4 consoles…the last time I checked RDR 2 has only been released only once across all platforms

He said that HE double dipped, meaning he bought it more than once.

Huh? Every single 3D era GTA came out first on PS2, then months later on pc/xbox. GTA IV also came out first on consoles by 8 months. RDR2 came out a full year on consoles before PC. Max Payne 3 came out with a few weeks in between versions if i remember correctly and RDR straight up never got ported anywhere so those are the two exceptions i can think of.

I disagree. Rockstar knows plenty of people with PC's own other platforms so they'll just get it when it comes out and later buy it again when they release it on PC. That's definitely a "double dip".

With Vince McMahon retiring from WWE, how high are the chances of him getting Dan Houser's job at Rockstar?

I still think he contributed or even wrote the story for 6. I’ll be surprised if he’s not in it.

even though he’s left rockstar, if he’s still on good terms with Sam who knows… I will assume they will still communicate on future games. I’m sure Dan isn’t out the window for good

I could be very very wrong but I think there's a decent chance it'll be day 1 on PC.

Just feel with the service based nature of gaming now and with what R* will probably wanting to do with GTAO2 with potential stuff like in-game live events you really sorta need the game on PC ASAP. You can also look at the content creation side of the industry and think they may want it on PC day 1 cause of that too, as the vast majority of content creators and all the big ones play primarily on PC.

This is one of my predictions about VI/GTAO2 that I'm prepared to be very wrong about that, cause at the end of the day R* can be very archaic at times.

Even Sony have now finally realised that fighting PC does nothing but lose them money. I give it maybe 3-4 more years before we start seeing smaller Sony 1st party exclusives releasing day 1 on PC, and 7-10 before we start to see them releasing all their games day on 1 PC, and that last one I'd say is a very safe guess.

Based on... what? Their PC ports aren't perfect but generally speaking they're overall very decent and have been since MP3.

Yea I wouldn't waste your concerns about GTA VI / GTAO2 on the PC port, that'll most likely be fine.

Concern your self with more serious stuff like if it'll have mountains instead.

Most of the exclusives they ported to PC so far were games that were at least 4 years old, and I always kind of thought they want to give PC players a "taste test", something like a "hey, here's what you could be getting day-one if you bought our console!". I mean, releasing Spider-Man for PC a year or two before the sequel comes out on PS5, God of War a few months before Ragnarok comes out on PS5, Horizon: Zero Dawn before Zero West came out on PS5...

To me it just seems like they are promoting their upcoming games whilst also making some extra money off those who buy the games on PC. Maybe I'm wrong, but honestly I don't care if I am. In the end, it's a win for everyone if they release games on PC since more players will get to experience them.

I'm not really sure about that. Look at how Rockstar is treating PC users for some mere E&E upgrades. It's been 4 months, but there's a pin-drop silence on their part even though consoles are getting another exclusive car this summer. They can even charge $5-10 for the upgrade like Death Stranding Director's Cut did, although there'll be backlash.

I'd say VI will come to PC within 6-12 months from initial release, and there's a good chance it'll be Rockstar Launcher exclusive for quite a while (unless Epic throws them some beaucoup bucks).

It's possible that's the case, but I don't think so. The cost of AAA development is going up but the install base of PlayStation isn't really growing, so leaving the PC market on the table is just throwing money down the drain.

As for the rate their PC ports are coming out, the time between initial PS launch and PC is starting to decrease rapidly. Spider-Man MM is confirmed for this year, Returnal is all but officially confirmed, Sackboy is heavily rumoured, Horizon FW was on the nVidia leak dated for roughly a year after the game was originally meant to launch. I strongly expect that gap wil get shorter and shorter until it's day 1, and that will most likely coincide with the premium tier PS+ service (the one w/ games in it, w/e they're calling it) launching on PC.

Yea PC day 1 for VI is not something I'm at all 100% sure on, but I don't think the chance is 0 like it has been in the past. I would not be surprised if it's a year after.

It will be the typical 1 year wait for PC release. I'd just bite the bullet and get a next gen console now. RDR2 and E&E didn't come to PC day 1 so why would VI? There's multiple reasons they don't drop PC versions day one and those reasons haven't magically disappeared. Piracy, porting time, extra sales, all factor into it not releasing on PC day 1. As for content creators, not having PC on day 1 has never stopped any of them and I doubt it'll stop them with VI since it'll be the biggest game of the decade and everyone is gonna be playing it.

2023-2024 is gonna be a very different place when it comes to platforms to 2013, and even 2018. PC has become a massive platform and as important for sales as any of the major consoles. It's also become the platform of choice for the content creation side of the industry, which in turn has resulted in a lot of the younger generations of gamers choosing PC as their primary platform. It's become too big to ignore, and this is precisely a huge reason why MS and now Sony have begun supporting it. There's even talk Nintendo might dabble in it in future, though I think that's going to initially be with a mobile Mario Kart game if I remember right.

As for piracy, I genuinely don't think I've seen an AAA publisher moan about that in probably 6 or 7 years now. It's a non-issue, really.

The time it takes to develop a port has always been the core of the issue with R* I think, early RAGE especially was very mess but we've seen with their more recent games (which cause of their slowed output, stretches all the way back to 2012) that their ability to handle PC has matured pretty well. Couple that with the hardware architeture being a non-issue, modern consoles starting to bring over traditional PC technology like DSR etc and simultaneous console and PC development should be as simple and easy as it's ever been forr a developer of R*'s size.

The extra sales notion is a dodgy one. R*/T2 absolutely did benefit from the double/triple dip but due to the fact GTAO2 is gonna be a thing it may be a poor idea to delay the PC launch of that as it'll result in GTAO2 just being out of sync, especially if they support cross platform MP/progression. I strongly imagine that it'll just be a much less painful thing for them if they just launch it day 1 on PC, otherwise they'll have to deal with their brand new cash cow (GTAO2) not being out on 1 platform, then having to deal with the catch up, any crossplat issues, etc etc etc. I know of other games that have been in that situation and it's created massive headaches for them that they eventually had to address.

Like I said due to their past I wouldn't be shocked if it's not day 1, but considering the fact that it will come to PC, stuttered releases in 202X for online games and everything they come with now are really just more trouble than it's worth.
