2016 was before we knew RDR2 was a "Rockstar Studios" project and not Just Rockstar San Diego. When Tim Neff leaked in 2017, many of us thought GTA VI could have been closer than what it is currently, though.

The first time I cared about GTA VI was in 2016 when a YouTuber showed an easter egg about the airport doors in GTA V. I saw the video in December 2016 and I didn't know that they announced RDR2 instead and I was thinking that GTA VI will be released in 2021 (as the airport doors easter egg says.)

What the hell is wrong with those development companies nowadays?  First it was Mafia DE, then CP2077 and now Saints Row? When did water splashes got so hard to make?

There was a TechRadar report, from March 2016. But it didn't detail much, besides that work onthe game had started but a location hadn't been settled on, yet.

When Rockstar say stuff like ‘we understand we have to exceed peoples expectations‘ I believe them. They have massive egos which is a good thing. Like I don’t just think there just saying it for marketing value. I don’t think Rockstar would actually release a game that isn’t better than their previous one. RDR2 still blows me away now 4 years later. In all likelihood VI is going to be ridiculous.

Yes definitely. and in interviews Sam and Dan houser are said to be perfectionists. If Rockstar were to release a game that fanbase turned on then abit like this Last of us remake, that’s just not rockstar. Look what happened with the trilogy, rockstar literally backed off from remastering RD2 and GTA 4 because of the feedback they got from it. If rockstar are to remaster both of them they would do it 10x better in my opinion.

It’s sort of a burden for Rockstar I guess. They can’t just put out average stuff. I mean for their mainline titles not the trilogy. Victim of their own success sort of thing. If Rockstar drop the standards they are going to get panned. They could have cut so much stuff out of RDR2 for example and it still would have been 10/10.

Yes definitely. I mean, looking back now GTA 4 do a lot things better than GTA 5 in my opinion but when you listen to dans interview at a game awards show they had to cut out loads of stuff due to hardware limitations. But RD2 proved what rockstar can do with that extra power. Rockstar do it right, most other gaming companies are a joke. Considering we say Rockstar are greedy, at least they are not activision, ea and Ubisoft putting the same new games out every year with hardly any improvement and do their best with new games.

I wonder if they'll actually release GTA 6 day one on pc. Tired question im sure but i should probably start saving for a PS5 cause i have a feeling they're not giving up the double dip. Im definitely part of the problem as i have double dipped for every Rockstar game ever but i sure as hell am not waiting another year for a game that's gonna come out 12 years after the last one...
