I was one of them haha I was so disappointed. I never learn from my lessons though this one definitely has multiple cities. 😁

I still think Vice City and "Havana" may be possible....

GTA fan on release day: "f*ck!"

I hope there are multiple cities.

If there is only one city then I hope Rockstar makes a map with a bunch of Islands, like a legitimate tropical archipelago. It would be super unique and give new meaning to boats and marine life and vehicles.  If GTA VI's map is just like V with a city on one side and nothing super interesting on the other then I'm going to be a little disappointed.

IMO it'll either be a couple cities and a few towns or something of the sort, or they'll have a few towns and a gigantic city that's like a mixture of Miami, Orlando, etc. But don't be too tricked by the "surrounding area" stuff, because of what happened with some people's expectations for GTA V :sadkek: All the speculation that R* were hiding San Fierro or a version of San Diego lmao.

Remember the mapping thread, where there was a road leading down south (to the docks) but that part of the blueprint map from the collector's edition was hidden, so some speculated it lead to San Diego? :kekw:

What does vice city and surrounding areas mean? What’s actually around vice city? Anyone got pictures as an example?

Bare minimum think GTA V.  Since Vice City is Flordia and Miami, it tends to be very beachy and somewhat tropical. It could be a combination of that plus some swamps and grasslands if they are going for a Florida vibe. However, the Caribbean is also next door. So we could see some Islands plus a Key West kind of thing.

Key West is about 3 hours from Miami (Vice City) and Cuba is apparently under 100 miles from Key West. Rockstar has a lot of interesting possibilities.

Looks like it's worth checking out the good old GTA forums again. It has been a while! Hope R* will finally drop some Information "within the next few months or so". 2024 release is my guess.

No offence, but it's pretty simple... It means Miami, and the areas that surround it. A city, a swamp, beaches, and general countryside. Just like GTA V was for Los Angeles. With creative liberty, of course. It won't be an exact geographically accurate replica.

Welcome back! Ye, I think the time is right to come back ... the GTA VI reveal hype madness is just about to start.

We're almost in September. Which is where people start to get antsy about it being October, soon. Then it's October and people will, each day, get super excited about "maybe tomorrow?" until it either happens... or it doesn't.

Fun times, ahead 👀

Oh good old Emmi still around! Yeah, it's "that time again". Looking forward to that madness tho.

I agree. October and onwards is a great time of year anyway imo so a GTA VI announcement would be insane. I just can’t fathom how one day I will open my phone and see “GTA VI Official Trailer”.

Sounds good.

I honestly couldn't care less about the Keys. It'll be one street down there and the same street back, which I hate.

And the "surrounding areas" thing has me really worried. It's V all over again. We need bigger towns outside of the city and no surrounding highway. Makes everything feel small plus Paleto was sh*t.

The main city and a smaller one sounds good. Watch Dogs 2 for example with San Francisco and Oakland worked pretty well imo.

San Fierro for GTA VII petition.

Yea it is sh*t. So small, I hate how it’s just over a massive mountain too. But now rockstar has more resources I expect VI to do it better. Also, if they were planning on project americas with multiple cities surely they are capable of creating massive surrounding areas

I have noticed in the videos some apparently old bridges as well as being cut/unfinished as if they are missing I think one more highway or something like that I don't remember the name, I don't know if in VI they will finally get to put this apart from the Keys could include it, although they could salvage the scrapped concept of Gator Keys from the OG Vice City but more expanded and bigger if possible or do it another way.

The rule is pretty much the same here, that's why the posts go into approval mode. Don't give this guy attention at all and read the comment I left on that very thread.

My guess is as far south as the Key West, and as far north as West Palm Beach. I'd definitely expect the Everglades to the west maybe Fort Myers or possibly Tampa instead. Then yeah there's the potential for Caribbean islands. Even if it's Southern Florida though, I'd still expect it to be much larger than GTA V to give a sense of scale given that California is actually mountainous and therefore forgiving allowing Rockstar to give a sense of scale by hididng different parts of the map behind mountains, whereas Florida is very flat so the map will have to sprawl out.

Am I the only one looking forward to the art work? It always differs slightly with every title so will be interesting to see what they come with next - think my favourite overall style was the GTA IV artwork.

How confident are we that this October is the time?

I was just thinking the same thing. V's art has a very clean style to it. It'll be interesting to see what they do with VI. Speaking of key art work, does anyone know at what stage of development all of that art is worked on? I'm guessing towards the end once the artists are confident they know what is possible and is present in the game?

Tl;Dr

  • October 2022 is 4 years after RDR2 released. Logically speaking, we're running out of time and sooner or later Rockstar will announce the game.
  • Rockstar announced their last two games, GTA V & RDR2 on Tuesday in October.
  • Rockstar have mentioned the next GTA being in development twice, this year.

So October 2022 is the logical place for it to happen. Even if it's not a 100% certainty. But, we're drawing closer. It will 100% be announced within the next 12 months.

In February 2019, I wrote a thread detailing previous leaks for GTA & RDR, and predicted an announcement in October 2022. Since then, I updated to October 2021 as an earliest case scenario, but then a global pandemic happened and shut the world down for over a year.
