Yes, like me when I say that it is realistic that Bully 2 will release before GTA VI and will be a surprise reveal to everyone this October.

Who's your supplier? Because that's some whacky sh*t you're on :prismkek:

What if the first mention of gta-next being in development was just damage control after the trilogy and e&e mess ? And the second mention damage control after the burial of rdro ?

Its not impossible that we wont get a real announcement/trailer until 2024 or maybe 2023 if we are lucky. We dont know how far in development these guys are, covid didnt make it easier.

If the next gta is really going to be multiple cities and multiple decades and sth like gtao2 that should last and generate money for many more years to come, this game will be huuuge and a release could be very well some years away

From my understanding Rockstar put each and every of their current "side-projects" on hold to move everyone over to assist at the development of Grand Theft Auto VI so that they make sure it doesn't slip into late 2024 and beyond.

At the end of the day I rather have it coming out late than early and it's a bugfest and not feature complete ... today I expect a release in Summer 2024, like September 2024.

We'll see how that turns out and whether there will be a teaser trailer with the logo reveal later this year (October) or not.

That would mean they would announce their next game 6 years after RDR2. It doesn't add upl. Look at what RDR2 looked like, only 3 years after GTA V released. Or better yet, think about the fact that RDR2 released 5 years after GTA V. Why would it take them even longer just to announce the game?

Maybe because they don't want this endless info drought again as in the past? I mean is it really that great to have a 1 minute teaser trailer and a logo this October and then having to wait at least another 12 months for another look at the game? I rather have them reveal it closer to release than suffering years of info droughts again.

For us, no. but Rockstar know how it drives desire and hunger for new news. Besides, it's already been longer than the gap between GTA V's release and RDR2's announcement. So that may already be accounted for. But I'll never presume there won't be long gaps or droughts. It's Rockstar. It's what they do.

I don't know why but this GTAO DLC smells like last DLC. I know many people are assuming the same but... this time feels right

Not last, but potentially a sign it's gonna slow down. We're definitely still gonna have a larger Winter DLC (in terms of content) but after that... I wonder if we'll get a Summer DLC. It's possible they'll be doing VI stuff instead especially if the reveal is this year.

Depending on if we get an actual reveal trailer sooner than later, and if Rockstar still decides to push out an GTAO updates afterwards, I feel like we're gonna be getting some neat promotional stuff like we had when RDR2 was about to come out, with that hatchet you could unlock.

Wait people actually think they'll announce the game in 2024? Which would put the release window somewhere between 2025 and 2026, nearly a decade since their last game. That makes very little sense when the game has already been announced as in development twice now, from a company well known for not doing that.

Youtube is so damn annoying these days. The videos are constantly interrupted by unskippable ads, like seriously, sometimes I watch a video for five seconds and an ad pops up, then I watch another five seconds and another one interrupts ... then I mostly just quit and do something else.

I remember when Youtube was still ad-free ... good times!

wait till i tell you adblock exists

this DLC honestly seems like they're either;

1. out of ideas

2. saving any good DLC ideas they have for GTAVI's online

this one seems kind of lazy and last minute, no?

look at the summer special update in 2020...after that we've got Cayo Perico... were they out of ideas? don't think so

then refer to point 2, they're saving the good DLCs for VI. Also we weren't as close to VI summer 2020 as we are now. Cayo Perico was most likely them exploring the caribbean theme and seeing how the fanbase reacted and/or introducing us to Cayo since it will appear in VI.

I'm just evaluating, and we live in different times now than back in 2013+

some people in here talk like its set it stone that "its happening" in october this year. I agree it could be likely, but more like 60/40 likely

now r* has mentioned the development two times, but one time(gta5) or two times, it makes no difference imo

And its not uncommon to announce/tease a game and to release it many years later (cyberpunk/witcher4/indianajones/ubisoft star wars)

A gta release in 2025 would mean a 12 year gap between gta5 and 6, not unlikely

We are now almost 10 years after gta5's release, i think no one thought about this huge gap when gta5 got released, or that it would release on 3 console generations

but we've had RDR2 between then so its only been 3 years since their last major release. it was 5 years between GTA 5 and RDR2, so an announcement this year or next seems logical for the same time period. 8 years since their last major release seems way too long for them to go without releasing much of anything else. Not to mention the shelving of other products such as RDR1 & GTA IV remasters, as well as RDO to focus on 6, a sign they are getting closer to release.

Also cases like Cyberpunk are different. CDPR is a far smaller company, and needed to announce the game early to gain developer interest. Its a thing many smaller dev teams do when they need an extra workforce for a larger project

No? 1. they're probably focusing a lot more on GTA VI as a whole now and 2. it's not the first time a Summer DLC is much smaller, in fact it's not as small as people thought - it looks like they focused on quality of life on purpose this time around. People in the GTAO community are liking the announced changes quite a bit.

It's not an "ideas" or "laziness" thing, it's what is impending for GTAO most likely as well, maybe next year. It's 100% going to slow down, not to the level of RDO, but it's gonna happen, bringing me back to point 1.

Announcement next year, add +1year because of the pandemic etc, we get to 2024 for the announcement, thats what i said, maybe unlikely, but not impossible

How do you know? Maybe they realize that they are too ambitious and that the game is getting too huge, too much work still to be done and a release in far distance, so better stop everything else now and focus on the main project

Development must be so hard. Especially for games like GTA. Imagine how much things Rockstar want to add when it’s close to releasing, new technology comes out and polishing up things. After reading RD2 crunch article, it seems like Sam and Dan weren’t happy with RD2 and wanted to add more hence to why it was delayed. Most likely will happen with GTA 6.

A while ago, I posted an old GTA V thread, where people were speculating about GTA V, the day before it was "suddenly" announced (if you can find that comment, someone post it lol) People have all sorts of opinions. It's years away, it's soon, it's this or that, whatever. Fact of the matter is, their last game was almost 4 years ago, and some GTA VI leaks go back as far as 2017, 5 years ago. October isn't set in stone. But some of us have been here a long time. I've been saying October 2022 was the most likely time for an announcement )2021 second most likely) since February 2019. It's the most logical time for it to be announced, based on what we know and are aware of.

It's funny, though. A few years ago, GTA VI was obviously being announced soon and releasing in 2021. Now, it's the flip reverse, for some. And the announcement is another 2 years away.

All we're really doing is speculating sensibly, with facts, evidence and logic. And all that pointed to a 2022 announcement. And well, we're almost there. I'm fascinated by psychology, although I've never studied it. But I do find it fascinating how things change the closer you get to it. Almost as if the idea of it being announced soon™ is what some people are afraid of, because if it ends up not happening, they'll be to broken hearted about it :kekw:

Anyway, a massive game like RDR2, took around 8 years. GTA VI's been almost 9... It really is soon™, now.

They probably only started properly working on GTA VI after R2D2 was finished though. It's probably been 4/5 years now.

I agree, when means there was 5 years between GTA V & RDR2. We're currently 4 years post RDR2, so...

2024 sounds too far off, even for Rockstar’s standards. Besides, do you really think that they would’ve addressed the existence of the next entry in the GTA series twice by now, just to drop a trailer in two years? Sounds more unlikely than an announcement coming this year or next one. Mind that Rockstar doesn’t really leave nothing to chance and there’s a reason behind the two announcements they made earlier this year.

Why? Don't feel bad for me. I feel bad for those like you, who are fairly new, who don't have that experience of multiple GTA releases, and have no real idea just what they're in for when a new GTA is announced... Kids today couldn't handle the GTA V Info Drought of 2012.
