There are more games releasing now than ever and there are more quality games releasing now than ever. The reason why people think it was better back in the day is the same reason why people think music was better back in the day, because they only remember the good stuff. Garbage video games have been releasing since video games were a thing, broken games, unfinished games, repetitive, generic games. All a thing since day 1.

 

The industry has changed and evolved with the rise of online multiplayer absolutely, and I'm absolutely no fan of things like lootboxes and what have you, but despite all that I still play a larger variety of games now than I did back in the N64, PS2 era, I play a higher amount of quality games now than in that era. There's more gems releasing nowadays than there was back in the day simply as a byproduct of there being more games releasing now than back in the day. There's possibly a discussion to be had over the lack of store curation on most major platforms making it difficult to find these games at times, but there's also an issue of players moaning about the lack of quality games these days being stuck in their comfort zone playing the same stuff and not trying some new games they've never tried before - regardless, good games still exist and are still being made in their droves.

I agree with you, there's a lot of good games nowadays better than the ones back in the day, people really wanna compare games such as Red Dead Revolver with Redemption 2? The original God of War games with the most recent one which is way cooler than the previous ones? I know that nostagia has a loud voice, but knock it off, we're blessed nowadays, lack of money to buy them all is a bigger problem than lack of good games, especially story mode games such as that cat game Stray which is cool af.

Also people looking too much into the article just cuz jason said they are more sensitive doesn't mean they aren't going to be funny. 

Jason only said controversial stuff to get clicks , everytime he says something he tells the stuff that sounds bad or will be recieved as such e.g Female protagonist / latina , less satire , only vice city and evolving map with updates .

At the end of the day rockstar may just have cut a few jokes but jason is gonna make it a big deal cuz clicks . He will never say stuff that will excite the fans so f*ck Jason and bloomberg .

If rockstar themselfs just showed a trailer with female protagonist and vice city it will be recieved well . Jason seems like a guy who reload the old save when he accidentally runs somebody over .

I'm excited for Vice City and Female Protagonist .

Give me a damn break with that GTAV and GTA Online talk ... the worst and most annoying GTA games there have ever been made.

God damn, seeing Michael, Franklin or Trevor makes me instantly wanna puke and burn my physical PS3 copy of GTAV, put it on video and send it directly to the Rockstar HQ in New York City.

This game is a goddamn mess and if they don't get their sh*t together for VI I won't even play it.

This forced joke nonsense in V and the stupid satire which isn't funny at all (was that facebook thing supposed to be funny? because I legit didn't laugh once and just wanted to open the source code, find the part for this mission and delete it from existence - same with Fame or Shame and the likes) is so over the top it gets on my nerves and just makes me disgusted and ashamed.

Replaying GTAV and IV is so boring I even remember replaying them for second time was boring! 

But on other hand every time I replayed GTA SA it felt great and fresh! I hope replaying value of GTA6 will be even better than GTASA! 

I don't expect too much from GTA6 because they hired so many new guys and they are not gonna make the game like OG did, and they are worried about media and crying people that say they are offended by a joke! and also the new developers just want to whine about crunch... while every wise man knows the real art is made by crunch! without sweat and tears it's just a normal thing!

 

I hope GTA 6 will be like = GTA VC (atmosphere) + GTA SA / RDR2 (characters + abilities + mini games) + GTA IV (realism and physics) + GTAV (two characters switch) + Max Payne 3 (action) + Matrix Demo (graphics) + bonnie and Clyde story + Tarantino story telling style + 70s 80s 90s as playable settings in free roam + modern settings for online (I love to see an app like Instagram for sharing photos and videos with the world fast and easy!) + many great movie references + Patrick Bateman easter egg pls!

i feel like that's the main issue. this gta having been the newest one for nearly 10 years already. I don't like the protags much either and find other characters extremely annoying and obnoxious. It probably would have been fine however if 5 years after V, we got VI. But V is all we had for almost a decade (not counting RDR2, just GTA)

"Pop music has actually gotten worse" you realise there are more genres then just pop music right  And even within pop that AI probably only takes into consideration major artists like Drake and Ed Sheeran etc

Plot twist, that's most likely a real palm tree, in real Ibiza, with some video post-processing effects... But I do remember that being brought up when the video first released, it would be very funny if that was actually GTA VI somehow
