I personally keep thinking about a TBOGT-like plot set in Dubai. Enough English speakers for an average AAA production to justify and is rich enough to have golden Buzzards and exploding hypercars.

Dubai is no fun. No seriously they have some serious strict rules over there. There would be no hookers and cursing would get you arrested.

I mean the only thing you can do in Dubai is human trafficking, it would get boring in the long run. And as for New Zealand, well, the most crime you are going to do there is stealing someone's sheep.

I do agree GTA needs to stay american. USA have the best sh*tholes la, sf, lv, ny, chicago, miami, I love them all

I love my American sh*tholes :kekw:

This scene from the Sopranos captures everything when they return from Italy and then get back to the grind in ugly NJ. The layout, the warehouses, the grittiness.

I am up for an international GTA it would be exciting and we wouldn't know how GTA-like it would feel until we actually see one imo.

Though my most wanted location is Capital City/Washington DC give me the capital of big daddy USA and I will be a happy camper

Washington DC would make no sense. Despite being the capital. Outside of America it’s not popular like Miami , NYC and LA and really not much would be known about the city or its culture apart from the President living there.

Even a city like Chicago would probably not be worth doing because most of the world only know it for Micheal Jordan, Al Capone & high murder rate.

If they went international, Logically I think the best way to go would be 90s London , Hong Kong and Kingston.

London is one of the most diverse cities in the world, everyone can get represented here, the busiest airport in the world and is arguably the ‘capital of the world’.

All three locations can easily be connected with a story. The British ruled over Hong Kong until 97 and Yardie gangs we’re the most active in London during the 90s.

London and Hong Kong are both extremely popular in films / TV shows. Both would have such a wide library of gangster films to pick inspiration from as well.

Kingston world appeal would be mainly through reggae and dancehall music plus also Jamaica being a popular holiday destination . But it so popular, it’s enough.

DC has a pretty high crime rate, and it's own unique culture. It's more than just politics.

I think crime rate shouldn't matter too much. If they can build a story about heists in 2010s LA then they could probably think of some creative scenario for a GTA if it were in DC also

Philadelphia is probably the closest to a real life GTA city.

It’s really has nothing to do with crime rate.

What matters is what the city itself has to offer. The geography / build of the city and its appeal in popular culture (World wide) this is way more important rather than its real life crime statistics .

If that was the case you would just set in The slums of Johannesburg

Washington DC would be a very boring city to explore.

Space Cowboy

While I agree that GTA is inherently American at this time, they could still visit other parts of the world and make a GTA spin off (in 15 years or so 😁), which would essentially be the same urban game as mainline GTA but without American culture. There is nothing stopping them from doing that and by making it a spin-off they could get away with it being a much different game. Supposedly once they wanted to do Tokyo, which would be a very interesting location full of potential.

In my opinion this would be much more interesting than cities which have been done somewhat recently in other games - such Chicago, San Francisco and London in Watch Dogs. I agree that the Rockstar version of these cities would indeed be better, but personally I would much more welcome some other location that hasn't been done in late PS3, PS4 gen at all.

The people in Philadelphia are different. Chicago even though it has a crime problem and a big city they are still in the Midwest and still have that Midwestern friendly feel. Baltimore is poor. The people in Philadelphia will pee on your lawn.

Be interesting if they do multiple eras. I would rather they stick to one but would be cool to see the city grow between eras. Maybe even see if our protagonist(s) has left their mark on the city in some way

I can think of numerous places where they'll pee on your lawn, soak it into the surface by doing burnouts on the lawn afterwards, then they'll throw a brick through your front window to say, "we're just being neighborly, welcome to the community!"

So upon further reflection I think I prefer Rockstar having dialed back on their initial - crazy - ambitions for GTAVI concerning its map size covering not only a lot of North- but also parts of South America.

I think most would agree that GTAV's map (its layout, use of space, etc.) was one of Rockstars' weakest map designs in their modern era so maybe they gave it a second thought and decided to go with a 'smaller' but waaay denser map with lots of interactivity and - most importantly - interiors for the players to enter and have fun with.

I remember after the reveal trailer of GTAV and that infamous mountain/hiking scene (yes, it still hurts :)) I couldn't be more ecstatic and thought oh man, this is gonna be so great exploring all the caves and trails up that mountain range and eventually getting lost with no civilization at sight, setting up camps, etc. ... oh boy how wrong I was. I am not sure if Rockstar dialed down on their ambitions there as well because of hardware limitations but now I look at it and think ... damn, why haven't they cut the entire mountain range and built another city apart from Los Santos instead. Mt. Chiliad and its surrounds felt like a huge waste of space in GTAV's map. Sometimes I feel it was made with GTA Online in mind because it is just a playground to goove around with no gameplay sense in the story mode.

So I'll take Miami and its surroundings gladly if it means we get a crazy detailed and filled with interiors and stuff to do city and surrounding towns, etc. instead of a repeat of GTAV's map.

Still a shame it is set in modern-day because I'd loved to have a GTA set back in the 80's again with the cool cars, the brick phones, no internet and social media!, etc.

I think this report was great to set our expectations right instead of believing in fake, dreamy leaks that appeared over the last weeks and months.

A main character duo with a male and female is the greatest thing that could have happened to the GTA franchise and moreso if they get the Bonnie & Clyde influence right and we get to witness the next epic, emotional story after RDR2.

I'm ready for Grand Theft Auto VI and the day they properly reveal it with a logo and teaser trailer I'll be very very excited!

I understand what you’re saying but I disagree that the problem with V was that it was a big map. GTA V was the smallest “big” map ever created. The problem was that it was unbalanced and poorly designed. I got the sense that V’s map was really designed to include much more, and a things got thrown out over time. SA was my all-time favorite GTA game and map because it felt like a self contained world. You felt like you went on a road trip when you travelled to a new city. Not that I didn’t like IV, but Rockstar should have used all of the successful points of SA’s map as a foundation for all future GTA’s. Interestingly, it did work in VC, but for different reasons.  I think it worked in VC because the incredible artwork, music and detail brought it all to life.  VC was like a work of art. That would be a cool thread - ‘VC vs. 5, differences between good and bad one-city GTA maps’.  But the big problem is that a one city map tends to make the game feel like there’s nothing going on outside the city. You’re either in the city or in some generic outside the city environment.  Look at V - does any place outside the city look unique? In SA, you had three unique cities, plus a whole list of places in between, with their own climate, topography, culture, etc. And taking a plane to a destination made sense. If you needed to get to another city across the map, flying or buying a plane ticket felt like going on a trip. I want them to bring that element back in. VI, but the recent “news” doesn’t look very promising.
