It's probably Old News, but...

The Metrorail in Miami has a stop in Liberty City, located in Northwest Miami-Dade County.

Easter Egg heaven. It'll be interesting to see what they name that area.

I heard Lazlow's departure was similar to Imran Sarwar. His quiet departure was odd.

I saw some people speculating if Rockstar would feature him again, but I doubt that.

The last few posts he made on Instagram was related of him taking care of his terminally ill parents and sister he was doing that full time and he couldn't work anymore and this was shortly after his departure from rockstar I think at the time.

But his website says he still consulting for movies and video games so I think he isn't done with writing but his hands are tied.

I don't think he is not done playing his character if they want him to to do voice work again, but I can only speculate that he left on his own will.

In GTA V there were too many ufo's, what would be cool instead are cryptids and monsters. And even cooler if you could hunt them like the legendary animals in RDR2.

I loved hunting in RDR2, they better let me extinct all the fauna in florida too.

Set a GTA game anywhere but the US and you can say goodbye to the old Ammunition

How is that a problem? GTA 4 didn't have a single Ammunation in it.

I dunno, companies have policies in place for people finding themselves in desperately sad circumstances like that, especially so for those at the top. Maybe he was shown the door with all those others, or maybe he needed a change, his perspective on life wouldn’t be the same after something like that. Feels a bit macabre speculating about whether he left the company because of relatives of his who passed away. 😅

It will be cool to see Lazlow (and Dan’s?) work in the future, to see if you can feel their voice on what’re likely to be very different projects.

Game is definitely gonna get delayed into late 2024. No doubt about it. It wouldn't be normal for Rockstar if it didn't. :kekw:

Exactly. Even if everything is finished and ready, just delay it for a week. Then we know its real.

Is it possible for GTAVI to have the same quality when it comes to wildlife and how you can interact with it like we have it in RDR2, like being able to hunt the animals and put them on the back of a horse or in a trunk of a bigger car, etc.

I think that'd be amazing and I guess I'd also love to be able to ride on horses in GTAVI as I can in RDR2. I read that horses were planned for GTAV at some point and even had its own heist but for whatever reason that was cut from the final game.

What I think happens is that we get a first trailer and the logo this October with a very short first premise of the game but they will not mention any release window let alone release date, just like they did it with GTAV's first trailer.

Then we have a 8-12 month drought before they show us a first proper look at the game and then they reveal the release window with Summer 2024 before they delay it in Spring 2024 to Fall 2024 and give us the definite release date then.

I don’t think it needs to have the same quality wildlife, man. GTA’s much faster paced game, wildlife had an almost permanent presence in Red Dead while you were moseying around and that.

In GTA it’s more likely wildlife will spend just as much time as unidentifiable roadkill, or as a blurred ball of fur and blood as it gets thrown over your windshield while you’re driving 80mph or whatever.

For me it does have to have the same quality as in RDR2 if I'm honest because GTAV's wildlife felt cheap to me and like an afterthought hence I never engaged with it or cared about Trevor's hunting sidequest. Hunting deer and then taking a stupid snapmatic picture and send it to Cletus ... lol, what sh*t is that??? This clearly doesn't do it for me. If it isn't as impressive as in RDR2 just leave this feature out of the game and only like include cats, dogs and birds, smaller animals which they can animate greatly ...

Yeah. It’ll probably be on par, right, but it’s not gonna have the same presence or focus

The fact that Ammunation is absent in IV is a very American reference in itself.

Just like the current New York City, Ammunation disappeared from Liberty City due to a crackdown on guns by mayor Julio Ochoa as an attempt to prevent crimes, as explained on the radio.

The point is, removing America from GTA will drastically change the identity of the series along with all the popular iconography surrounding it. Same reason why I don't see Fallout being set anywhere other than US.

Well yeah, Ammunation was replaced by traders selling you guns illegally. But, the amount of those traders already scream USA. You wouldn't get such a volume of illegal arms trade in a setting like Europe.

I've always felt that after the whole myth-hunt (UFO, Bigfoot) in GTA SA, they over-did it in V and RDR2. It was too "in your face", taking away all the mystery and fun.

Yes, but you're talking about "bringing something new to the franchise". A European country with stricter gun laws (basically meaning it's harder to get guns) could be the perfect catalyst for "something new". Though that probably wouldn't go well with most people, since... Well, I wouldn't start going there.

If you think that by "new" I mean a non-American setting then you have totally misunderstood my point. The scenario you describe is intriguing but it would be better handled by another franchise. What made the humor so great in GTA games was the satire (which will not disappear in GTA VI, contrary to popular beliefs, it will be toned down) of American culture and history. You see it in missions, you see it during free roaming, you hear it on the radio and in the latest installments you can see it on TV and on the internet. GTA has been a British take on American culture and that's what it should remain.

I am not denying their isn't crime, but there is like a mass shooting everyday or every second day in the USA. Whatever crazy sh*t goes down in GTA, is a lot more believable in an American setting than in a European one. But even then, as I have said before, guns aren't the only factor here.

I don't know, if people say a female protagonist is fine, then so should be a setting in a different country. People in this very thread said that satire isn't all what GTA is about, it's about the core gameplay and mission design, which all can be done in any setting Rockstar wishes to choose. And your post makes it seem as if there is absolutely nothing worth satirising in a different country setting. A non-US setting probably would work well for a non-mainline game like Liberty City Stories or Vice City Stories, but Rockstar gave up on small-scale entries entirely, because making DLCs for 10 year old games is far more profitable I guess.

Well, in my opinion a satire of the US is the most accessible given that America dominates popular culture and the rest of the world experiences American culture through movies, series, literature etc. Though I do agree, a satire of British, French, Russian, Japanese, Mexican (and other such cultures that are widely known) could work, but I just don't know. For me, that just wouldn't feel GTA. Maybe it's just me.

I do agree GTA needs to stay american. USA have the best sh*tholes la, sf, lv, ny, chicago, miami, I love them all but you guys can shove tampa and new orleans up in the ass because as much as I made myself look like a miami cock sucker, NY is the way. If initially the plan were 3 cities, there is no way LC wasn't one of them.

I kinda feel the opposite of Ghetto, I never really felt GTA as specifically American for whatever reason. (Maybe because I've never bothered with or paid attention to the satire tbh). To my dumbass GTA is like, give me an urban world with a crime story and open world shenanigans with typical Rockstar style jokes and innuendos and dialogues and mission style and whatever, it will more or less be GTA.

Ya what I described could be any open world crime game ever lol, except for the Rockstar style jokes and mission design (idk how to explain this exactly but GTA missions feel different to the way Watch Dogs or Sleeping dogs missions feel to me, there's a very trademark style to GTA missions).

And maybe the jokes have all been jokes about America so far but I don't see why you can't have similar humour for other countries, it may not land as much as jokes about the more well known America but then again most of the American humor flies over my head anyway so from my pov it wouldn't be anything new. I can see gang wars and drug busts and heists and immigrant stories in other countries too it will be nice to see them explored with the Rockstar lens of viewing the world.

I am up for an international GTA it would be exciting and we wouldn't know how GTA-like it would feel until we actually see one imo.

Though my most wanted location is Capital City/Washington DC give me the capital of big daddy USA and I will be a happy camper

If we're talking international. International how? The countries right next to us? Canada could work and so could Mexico. Keep it in North America

Canada though is nicer and has less guns. Mexico got the cartels but everything is going to be in Spanish. There's not much to criticize there's Mexico's corrupt government but that would get old, and I guess you could criticize Canada somehow but there are not as many jokes.

I wouldn't mind a cartel story, they barely got any attention in GTA V and just merely existed. But I suppose Texas or New Mexico would be a better American setting for those than Florida. Would love to feel some excitement as I am trying to cross the border with drugs.

English-speaking places, so theoretically we could get Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, ETC.

I personally keep thinking about a TBOGT-like plot set in Dubai. Enough English speakers for an average AAA production to justify and is rich enough to have golden Buzzards and exploding hypercars.
