If that rumor about scrapped 3 cities is true, that would be so sad. I really wanted them to let us drive from Miami to another large city. If they ever let us do it, it will be through the new Online, which means that i will completely miss out on it. I really hope that Rockstar is done screwing over single player folks

Man I can't wait for Rockstar to drag out the "reveal" with a #GTAVI and a week of vague teaser art leading up to a trailer that tells us nothing we don't already know. We'll get a press release about a bold new direction in storytelling and online freedom, then crickets for a year until it gets delayed again. They'll try to soften the blow with some motion blurred screenshots of the protagonist dual wielding SMGs with fake lighting around her. Shareholders will be pleased and Rockstar's marketing team will pat themselves on the back for doing the bare minimum.

Trailer will show the world, they did it with GTAIV, GTAV and RDR2, I am expecting it to be the case here too.

These are capable of us having a single map like in V (the example of North Yankton is not valid for me), as long as we do little work and earn more money, the law of the least effort that companies have been doing for a long time, I wouldn't even be surprised if the final version, as they have said on some page, is of a moderate size, meaning that it is short and not big from the beginning...

It seems that it is cheaper for them to have a map as cut and null in interrations, leaving it as another unfinished product that they have not even bothered to finish it as such, as happened with RDR2 even though it had almost a decade of development compared to that of about 5 years with V from IV.

Not surprised about Rockstar change of tone for the game to be honest, the demographics of game devs in the UK is not inline with that of the wider UK pop at all. so none too surprising that the devs will think certain things are verboten whereas Joe Bloggs doesn’t give two sh*ts.  hah

I think it's the context surrounding it/why.

 

When GTA IV was coming out, the context was that Grand Theft Auto had "grown up". We were looking forward to that after San Andreas. The only criticism was missing the fun nature of the game and multiple cities. But the praise was in the detail and the improved storytelling. Here's hoping that GTA VI does for GTA what GTA IV did for it in 2008. As good as GTA V was, it didn't feel like it evolved the series in any major way. Not even the multiple protagonists. Not a criticism, btw.

I think I remember reading, about Houser being in a somber and stressed mood from all the FCC hoo-haa which had to have fed into the game in a major way.

 

I was surprised to read about little/no pressure to get the game out, or whatever he wrote, I always like, and need, a little bit of pressure when I’m working.

Thats why i think official bang will happen at a later point in time when they are closer to actual release so they dont have to fear possible delays, and the first release time we will get is just a year, no month, like "gta 6 - 2025"

Honestly, I don't think that GTA IV made the franchise "grow up". It tried to create a coherent story (and even then, it lost focus after a while), sure, but when you compare it with other video games out there I have to say that the aspects that people praise GTA IV for are nothing to write home about. It felt as if GTA "tried to act as a grownup", but ultimately failed at it. If GTA VI is aiming to make the series more mature then it must do a better job than GTA IV. And in my opinion, that is something that R* can't do. With Dan gone we might get something fresh, but I am not holding my breath. Hell, I feel like GTA V also tried to treat its characters and its plot way too seriously. And that just killed the magic that the simplicity of 3D era games brought. Sometimes less is more.

That's the only thing I'm afraid of.  It's gonna feel weird to finally see the trailer after all these years of waiting and speculating.

 

The real fun, from what I've understood, begins after the trailer comes, when the mapping threads start, everyone starts over-analyzing every single frame of the trailer, and we hear no info from Rockstar for at least a year!
