Because Jason isn't leaking anything. He's reporting on what others 'leak'. And yes, that's how it works. For example, in government, or when dealing with classified information, the person who reports on those secrets usually doesn't get into any serious trouble. It's the person who actually stole, or leaked said information that gets into the serious trouble.

Jason is just a journalist, so Rockstar can't really do much. That's why the employees identities are protected. They're the ones who would face trouble. Although I can't speak for the situation with Yan. I just remember he said if they asked him to stop leaking, he would. And they did.

Quoting this, since it's become relevant again...

Trusted Reviews were sued because they shared information from a confidential document, that they didn't realize was confidential. Jason is reporting what unnamed employees and ex-employees have told him. Jason is just a journalist, who hasn't leaked anything, so Rockstar can't touch him, legally. If Jason had stolen or aqcuired a document and leaked all of its contents, however, then he could be in a lot of trouble. However the person in trouble is usually the one who directly leaks the information, not who reports on it.

The one with Arthur aiming the volcanic pistol (?) was the most interesting to me because his face looks kinda different. Like a mix between Trailer #2 and Roger's face in real life. Not the first time we've seen changes in facial features though. And obviously that screen was from an earlier build of the game.

Yeah, left is official, right is leaked.

Same for this one.

4IIWN34_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb& gotta say though, the official one looks a whole lot better here.

I swear to god if somebody mentions that totally unappealing island in connection with GTA VI again I will lock myself in a closet and cry for at least VI hours :cringekek:

I don't think it will appear in the game ... but does anybody mind that? The island really isn't that great.

Yes, keep that Cayo sh*t island away from GTAVI.

Miami with its surroundings AND Cuba which unlocks around half-way through the main story and isn't just a one-off location serving a linear story chapter (alà Guarma or Ludendorff) is my guess for GTAVI's map come release day still.

I don't believe it'll be 'just' Miami and its surroundings.

He's a journalist, doing what journalists do. He's broken no laws and if T2 tried to sue him they'd get laughed out of court and told to pay his fees while they're there.

He's got no contract or agreement with Take-Two or R*. If he released he identities of the people who gave him this info they'd be all fired, but Schreier won't do that, and Take-Two can't force him to do that. It's journalistic privilege.

I meant that part as a joke. Not to be taken seriously. I truly believe this article has received Rockstar approval. Sorry for the confusion but you are right.

Oh I am sure Rockstar really loved it when he talked about how toxic and terrible their work environment was at the time, they must have been unable to contain themselves with excitement to get the info out to the world.

The article in its core is a "confirmation" of things that were talked about for many years with maybe an additional thing or two here and there.

I think if this did come from them, it would have had more stuff.

For example: I believe the map leak of RDR2 could very well be from Rockstar, but this... this doesn't seem like it.

The article I was talking about was this one.
https://kotaku.com/inside-rockstar-games-culture-of-crunch-1829936466

Jason isn't here to talk about GTA VI he is mainly here to talk about Rockstar's culture. The recent article is probably just an update on the changes and not solely about GTA VI.

I mean, Trusted Reviews flat out revealed unseen screenshots of the game, I think they could have gotten away with it if they just kept it all textual and labeled it "from an unnamed source".

Also, gotta admire how T2 never went after them right away to avoid confirming the info.

I just want a trailer so I can participate in the mapping thread man, I didn't get to do so in the last two and I feel left out from the fun.

It was so fun to follow honestly. The accuracy was incredible, If I recall I think rockstar actually linked the mapping thread on one of their social accounts?

I remember lots of people thinking they were hiding a second city. Lol

Scott Ransom

The humour in V was so OTT and forced - I'd be extremely happy with them taking it down a few notches and giving VI a more serious tone.

Schreier is indeed probably the best video game journalist, but that says more about the state of video game journalism than about him

Everyone knows sex sells.

Tbf the article wouldn't have received no where near the attention without GTA VI. That is just facts, he needed something in there.

I know in 2020 we all thought we’d have gta VI by the end of 2022.

I'm confident the game would've been formally announced by now if the pandemic didn't happen. Probably would've came out 10-12 months faster too, compared to how it's going now.

In the original Vice City, the map was initially cordoned off because of a hurricane. Does anyone else think they might visit this, but actually have us play during a natural disaster? I think it would be a pretty dramatic moment to have a portion of the world permanently wiped away by some huge tornado or flood. They even played with the concept before in Liberty City Stories with Donald Love's terrorist attack. It would be cool to go back to that idea, and have the game world altered in a shocking way players wouldn't see coming.

The issue isn't that you can't parody other countries, it's that GTA's brand of parody and satire is specifically designed around the USA.

So sure R* could parody other countries but it might result in a game and gameworld that doesn't fit the series, and thus would be better of used in a new IP.

Not necessarily. They made a GTA game set in the UK already, albeit in 2D form.

Rockstar is an English/Scottish company, so they would knock it out of the park in terms of satire in the UK.

In VI will there be jails/prisons detention centers and etc? I have seen a video out there of a super-prison and it seems interesting

Someone here a while back posted something that was in the RDR 2 files as “Hurricane” 🤷🏾‍♂️ Idk if it’s relevant to GTA VI but it would make sense imo

I would love if you could call the police on people and see them go to prison lol

It would be interesting to see, we have never seen in a GTA game that a person or several ppl are sent to prison.

There is a British documentary about the Miami prisons and it is from the year 2011.

My ideal Grand Theft Auto VI inspired by the best bits from previous Rockstar games looks as follows.

Story: RDR2 and GTA IV

Graphics: RDR2

Animations: RDR2 and GTA IV

Gameplay: GTA IV

Clothing system: Vice City and RDR1 (pre-set outfits you can unlock by completing different challenges)

Music: Vice City and Bully

Driving: GTA IV

It shows me that both GTA IV (4 pts.) and RDR2 (3 pts.) are absolute masterpieces.

I don’t know what happened with gta 5 but GTA 4, GTA SA and RD2 are all better in my opinion.

the gta 5 story in my opinion isn’t good and the gameplay had its better bits but GTA 4 and RD2 is way better. After RD2 I think GTA 6 will be the best game rockstar have made

A lot of what the series is about today in terms of humour came in with the 3D era, the Houser's, etc.

I'm sure they could do a good take on the UK, that's not the question, it's whether it would still feel like a GTA game and world, which is unlikely.

If they can improve the mission design (it is too restrictive and allows for no freedom in RDR2 ... the mission design in GTAIV is perfect on the other hand!) which was the weak point of RDR2 for me personally I'm sure GTA VI will be the best game Rockstar has made to date. Of course they have to give it everything because topping RDR2 surely is a hard thing but I'm sure they will.

I think it would feel "like" it. But for lack of a better way to describe it, I feel it would feel like GTA in the same way that RDR feels like GTA. Akin to GTA but with a different flavour. I think the main issue is that the UK would just feel VERY different from a US set GTA game. Which I wouldn't be a fan of, at all.

Gotta agree with you on the clothing front especially here.
I am not a fan of the games have a million different customisation options - not just because it lacks focus, but because it ruins the creative integrity of the character. All the costumes Tommy gets in VC make sense for him, as something he'd wear either in a mission or as something you'd believe a classy guy like him would be seen in. Would his character work so well if people could give him a green mohawk and have him prance around dressed as a nurse? And all just to get a cheap laugh out of people.

I just don't get it, and I don't get stuff like letting players choose hairstyles or forcing them to eat or God knows what else. I didn't like it in San Andreas and I don't much like it now, and I think the simpler approach is the better bet.
