Why are people acting like the satire in GTA games is somehow the most important thing in the game and that it’s what made GTA successful and the main reason why people buy GTA games?

 

I know this sounds extremely hyperbolic, but I sh*t you not that I have seen so many people spew out the same type of sh*t left and right all over the internet. GTA III was not revolutionary because it parodied and made fun of American culture; it was revolutionary because it was one of the first 3D open worlds that gave you the freedom of doing what you wanted in a big city.

 

GTA games have always appealed to people for their gameplay and their world and the satire was mostly a background thing. People acting like GTA VI having less satire or being less offensive is somehow going to make the game 0/10 garbage, unplayable, huge commercial flop and that nobody is going to play it. I even saw someone say, and I quote: "Changing it is like if need for speed became a cooking simulator." Just listen to how absurd this sound.

GTAV's main characters, especially Trevor make me wanna puke and I must outright say it like that because hopefully Rockstar reads this and never gets the idea of doing such a stupid character ever again.

Not sure what you're on about. Trevor was masterfully written. He was an absolutely brilliant character through and through.

Niko Bellics left toenail had more character than all of 3 bozo the clowns in GTA 5. One was basically getting cucked by a Yoga teacher, the other was fake ass gangsta and the other some random ass hillbilly. Plus switching characters every two seconds, ruins the immersion and doesn't create any attachment to the character. I was really hoping single character would make a return, but i am fine with two if it's done right.

GTA6 needs a protagonist and a story that will leave the mark.

Now that the “wokeness” has sunk in, it’s easier to realize that Rockstar isn’t toning down anything, they’re just coming back to a more serious story like GTAIV, hell even GTA SA had a more serious story than GTAV with all that was going on (Los Angeles protests and all), RDR2 is pretty much on the same level of seriousness and, if you think about it, GTAV is the least appreciated exactly because of the overdone satire and parody lmao

Even if is real people are panicking for no reason. 

 

Working on only one city hopefully means It will be extremely detailed and alive and plus we will be getting more cities overtime. I couldn't f*cking care less about the female protagonist and not being in the 80s or not having south america.

I can't speak for the others, but I never said satire is the most important thing in a GTA game for me. However, that doesn't mean it isn't a key part of GTA. Just because it is a background thing for you, it doesn't have to be that way for everyone. Also, according to the Dan Houser's interview from 2018, I would say he also thinks satire is a key part of GTA. Let me show you some of his quotes which are unfortunately even more relevant today.

I wonder if Rockstar is going to update the game in a similar fashion to Episodes from liberty city with new missions characters vehicles and weapons, and could be bought as its seperate own game. Or something mediocre at best... lets just hope.

The South America part was never that appealing to me to begin with.

I'd guess it could be like the Episodes for GTA IV, at least I think that could work the best.

I wanted to see Japan or Australia instead of South America, that's my personal opinion

If they were to do a non-US part of the map South America works because of the influence the US has had on those countries over the decades, good and bad, which means they can still tie it all together humour/lore/world wise. It's why non-America settings are... probably never gonna work. You could do the UK, I think, especially modern UK, it'd be a very different feel to the world but it'd just about work, but beyond that I don't think there's any other setting where GTA works, even if said setting is just a cameo role.

 

We'll see though, it wouldn't surprise me if VI has a little side map somewhere, R* has become fans of those with their most recent games.

They'll let us visit an updated Liberty City for select missions from IV and you'll love it!

But honestly, those one-off location changes throughout the story never did anything to me other than disappoint that we cannot go back there later again.

So much wasted potential with Guarma and Ludendorff just for a couple of missions.

GTA IV and San Andreas had very different humour/culture/world. If you open your mind outside of the box, I can see UK being parodied even better than the US. They had Johnson as the PM (similar to Trump), they have many different cultures just as the US, and a capitalistic narcissistic world. 

 

I think people have to stop already saying that GTA can work only inside the US.

I mean there is so many cities and states within the US ... I don't know why it must be the same cities redone/reimagined by Rockstar all the time? I'd welcome a different setting within the US for a change but it seems like that won't be the case with GTAVI either.

I just hope they don't use the same color scheme as the GTA V map, it'd remind me way too much of GTA V
