I was joking with that post but a new skateboard game from rockstar would actually be nice. Something to rival Skate and Tony Hawk or completely destroy the competitors.

It wouldn’t take up as much time as any of their larger scale projects either. we need more smaller intermittent projects from rockstar. But most of their IP’s seem to have been conglomerated into gta online, like smugglers run for example.

The way rockstar makes games nowadays are better in terms of bigger and better games but what sucks is how much time it takes for these games to even be announced or revealed. We are probably a couple more years away from GTA VI but it would be awesome if rockstar allocated one or two of their studios to make smaller but still great games in between major releases

They have like 10 studios and acquire more all the time or consolidate them more into their other studios. That’s kinda what I don’t understand about rockstar. They have all these resources but don’t seem to do much outside of focusing on one single game

From what i've read, it seems they have combined them all into one called "Rockstar Studios" so developing games as big as RDR 2 will be easier or take less time than just having 1 studio for example RS San Diego. Hopefully they will have a couple studios make games on their own to make more quantity of games. Maybe in the future all big games like RDR GTA Bully ect. will all be developted under Rockstar Studios for development time and scope, and smaller titles being made by one studio for example The Warriors by RS Toronto.

Alright, now to something more serious, I hope this glitch on lighting, shadowing or whatever is fixed on GTA 6, this doesn't only happen on this well, I've seen similar effects in many other dark places in RDR2.

Yeah, I'm not expecting a lot of destruction, it would break continuity. What if you blow up the house of the dude who will give you missions a bit later? What if you destroy a bridge that is the bridge from which you will jump onto a train/truck below in the next mission? What if your mission starts next to a big tree at the park or some sh*t, and that area has been carpet bombed? How many possible variations of lines and animations need to be recorded to avoid breaking continuity in such a scenario? Rockstar haven't even expansively done multiple endings yet. Making every possible

 

Keeping just mission areas indestructible and the rest destructible would also be bad, because that could lead to spoilers ("All these houses got destroyed, but this one didn't, must be where X lives/must be part of a mission", etc.), and also, continuity.

 

All in all, highly destructive maps are generally good, fun, and makes sense in games with minimal story to them. Like a multiplayer fps or something. Would be hard to replicate in a story rich game with restrictive mission design like R*'s stuff. But I would like to be wrong.

 

The kind of destruction and damage physics I would want are the type of ones you mentioned. Moving stuff. A few pieces of the wall flying off due to bullets, chunks of wood flying off a tree, items moving and bending when they normally should, like the nets you mentioned. Kinda realistic car damage models, like in GTAIV, so on. But nothing permanent or huge, in order to maintain continuity.

That's because there's no flying in RDR2... lol makes it easy to do a land barrier

Yes, I'd genuinely rather get shot down by a jet than be reminded I'm stuck on an island in a vast sea of nothingness every time I fly a plane. At least then the illusion would only be broke when attempting to leave. Rockstar already used this in RDR2 with the invisible sniper. Land barriers are objectively better game design.

How long has it been since they launched the ps5 you tell me how long a console generation lasts. Judging by that, worst case scenario mid 2025.

You should not compare PS5 era with the previous PlayStation consoles. Many people still can’t get their console because of the shortage. I would not be surprised if we would get the next console (PS6) in 2028/2029.

Thats where I still disagree. We have so much newer technology coming out its ridiculous, this metaverse sh*t is insane.

 

Consoles are a money cow, even more so when all games on a last gen console are not backwards compatible. You will be forced to buy a new console, and buy that game you used to play all over again. Sad to say but we will see the PS6 on 2025. And GTA VI will be the flagship game.
