I agree humongous maps are overrated. I prefer a sh*t ton of interiors. Of course dont make it small like GTA IV with just city but it doesn’t have to be gigantic like RDR 2…

It’s an ambitious project but with a scaled-down scope for launch. That tracks with information shared by a source with Axios Gaming who said an earlier plan had called for four protagonists and three cities

Yeah this "scaled down" fearmongering stuff just sounds like things that were taken from a very early design document years ago that they probably dropped early as well - having decided to focus on only one state and 2 protagonists instead of a bunch of huge cities and 4 (?!) protagonists. Which says nothing about the true scale of the game - it could be one enormous city and surrounding area still. No one is able to characterise it until we see it.

 

I'm all for it because that will allow them to spend more time with the state of Vice City and any other cities and locations around it. Four protagonists would be ridiculous IMO.

 

or everything is a red herring and fake and R* will surprise us with something totally different :kekw:

God, please no more than two protagonists ... three in GTAV already hurt the story more than anything (alongside them being absolute jerks as characters) but four, that'd be just ridiculous and nonsense.

Yes, the focus on one city with its surroundings (which still can have smaller cities and towns!!!) is way better than three cities but none flashed out.

I think it is pretty much 'confirmed' to be Miami and surroundings at this point ... what those surroundings will be and how big this entire thing will be is to be seen of course.

Yeah most likely. Bit sad to watch how these recent articles creating a 'let down' feeling among fans, although ideas like multi city map might have not even be considered very seriously during production. I'm sure that after the release people will go on with imaginary 'what could have been' copypastes.

imo infinite water is better because infinite land would be trickier to feel believable. even though they could generate different looking land forever it would feel out of place compared to the hand made granular detail of rest of the map. endless water feels more believable to me but i understand why some may not like that

Yeah I don't know how the water wasn't infinite in GTA V. Why the need to destroy your vehicle when you go too far? How come other GTA games managed to do infinite water? They should bring it back.

But what's the point of manouvring your boat into an endless ocean if there's nothing to discover, a island to go to, etc.?

Ye and I can only imagine they will be looking even better in GTAVI than they do in RDR2.

Flying through them will be a moment to behold for sure!

I would have loved to see what the big passenger plane can do without having to worry about mountains and trees in GTA V. Turns out I couldn't because the map is so small

LOL 😆  On top of hearing Benny was going to the Yanks, the guy we traded him for, Franchy Cordero - aka ‘the Franchise’ - made two errors in one play and three in one game. And I think he made another on top of that, but it wasn’t credited out of the mercy rule. And our Franchy has a near 50% strike out rate and barely hits 200.  Sorry about the Pirates - I used to have tons of Pirates baseball cards back when I collected in the 80’s growing up. I always thought you guys were rebels and kind of badass cause of the uniforms and cause we never played you. It was like you were in your own secret league.  Here’s hoping about GTA!  I’d love to see them bring Dan back to help finish the game but that’s probably asking too much. They could bring the Benz in too, but I want to see what he’s going to do with Everywhere  🙂🤙

I think it's the opposite tbh. Just scan it and it's uploaded to your program and BOOM, tree.

 

3D scanning probably speeds up a lot of things nowadays without having to build it from scratch.

One thing I hope for is more destructability within the world. So like for example I can damage a tree if I use enough force and it can collapse ... then actual workers will appear and re-build it to the initial state ... this whole thing will take several in-game days or even weeks, depending on the destruction you caused.

I think it's likely the world will be more destructible, but i doubt it will have this much of a  impact in the world

No, try 3D scanning accurately all the branches and foliage assuming you're lucky and there's no direct sun light and wind.
Game-ready trees take few minutes to make and they require WAY less work.
