I don't think Defective Edition is a reason to be worried about GTA VI.

It’s the fact that Rockstar has historically had such high standards, and all of a sudden their latest release was at a low standard. Why would they allow a game to release with that many issues? And with little care to character designs and things like that? It’s like they’ve got worse since prominent people left Rockstar.

Developement times have went up and up and up and up with each generation. This is fact, we have enough developer accounts for it to the point that if you dispute it, you're a moron.

 

Lets use Ubisoft as an example. They pump out games like clockwork, right? Well a modern AC game takes something like 3-4 years to make, with a team in the thousands. These are copies that rely heavily on formulaic design, copy and paste assets, etc etc.

 

R* make some of if not the most detailed games in the industry. They make these games on this scale with this level of detail because fan expectations go up with every release, if they scaled back GTA VI to get it out quickly but as a result didn't wow us everyone would be livid. So if Ubisoft take 3-4 years to make an Assassin's Creed... how long do you think it takes Rockstar to create a RDR2, or GTA VI? It's not 2-3 years and that is a literal fact.

 

This isn't defending, d*ckriding, or whatever insult you want to throw because you don't know what you're talking about, these are facts that are easily backed up by first hand accounts from people within the industry. Games take longer than ever to make.

I bet he is the kind of person that tells other people how to do their work, even though he has no experience or say in the matter.

You're right, they should've at least done something to assure it released to their quality standards. I can't deny that. Definitive Edition was a hot mess from start to finish, we all know it by this point. My point still stands though. Rockstar aren't so blatantly careless with their in-house projects. GTA VI is gonna be fine, there's no need to worry. Hell, it might even be the best entry. Time will tell.

It was plain cash grab, I don't think R* cared about trilogy at all, probably daddy T2 told them to make something to satisfy investors and they made this abomination of a game, they have more important projects going on in background to care about some mobile developer making a cash grab.

I absolutely agree with this and I think it's the biggest problem I have with those remasters, like it or not, they got Rockstar's name and logo all over them, which means it's still up to them to keep an eye out on the state of the games before they were out to the public.

 

I mean, the freaking PC version could've cost Rockstar millions in lawsuits, that whole situation was poorly managed by Rockstar, and the only excuse I can see for it is that they never wanted those remasters to exist in the first place.

Most of their re-releases, ports, etc. always had technical issues ranging from minor to severe. GTA SA's PS3/360 ports were particularly atrocious (another work of GSG). Generally, R* doesn't seem to care much about remasters/remakes.

The difference between GTAV's current gen ports and Trilogy DE tells you everything. The current-gen ports of GTAV are a by the numbers remaster, but it does have numerous under the hoods improvements (like completely decoupling frame-rate and physics, changing the render to SGA, etc.), some basic visual upgrades, and for the most part runs and looks fine. And Trilogy DE... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

And the news about them shelving RDR and IV's remasters to focus on VI makes complete sense because Rockstar most likely doesn't want to outsource a remaster/remake of anything that runs on RAGE engine.

My guy GTA SA HD Remaster for Xbox 360 was broken too and that came out when Dan and Leslie were working at R* .

Again this topic is forgetting RDR2 lmao. Leslie (that for some reason seems to be so many people's saviour) was already gone, people were already paranoid about GTA Online... I'm sure there's a different topic for worries of this kind as a whole if you wish to discuss them.

VI in 2025 seems very likely to me at this point honestly. 2023 reveal with a two year gap like V and RDRII is what I'm expecting.

3 cities yeah maybe as a start for Florida map and then they expand it. I don't want them to be only for Florida though. But Florida part will have smaller towns as well.

 

Aside from Miami (Vice City), one city can be in northern part of South America map and another city on some Caribbean island. That sounds better to me as it gives more diversity in areas, gameplay and missions for the base game before they update the map and put the rest.

I was about to say.... his replies were definitely not thought through. We all know about long dev times and delays.

Even end of 2023 is still only 5 years after RDR2. 2024 and 2025 could easily be possible unfortunately.

Still predicting spring 2024.... and I'm being optimistic.

 

Also looking forward to a lot of other games, and building a new PC early next year. It will definitely be GTA6 ready!

lol I only said based on a riddit forums someone here posted and read it. Some guy called just about everything we saw in the leak footage. I think he gone now.
