I mean, Rockstar didn’t give two sh*ts when GTAIV became 10 years old, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all

10!=20

You're still a kid at 10 but you're an adult at 20 :kekw:

To me, it appears as if R* likes to celebrate the anniversaries of the older games rather than the newer ones'. Hence why we got GTA VC for mobile on the 10th but we didn't get sh*t at the 10th anniversary of GTA IV

imo its either today or 2023, because it would be a huuuge missed opportunity to not announce/tease it today on vice city anniversary

if its ready to be shown officially then i doubt they wont use the anniversary just to drop it some days later lol

if its not ready, well then its gg and a painful wait for literally any day in 2023 begins

That could very well be the reason, everyone's expecting it :fartkek:

R* acknowledged the 10th anniversary of RDR1 with just a Twitter post. Max Payne 3 with just a soundtrack vinyl. Even The Warriors received a newswire post of sorts. Looking at their flagship titles, GTAIV is the glaring omission.

Need For Madness Auto

I had this feeling that Rockstar Games would likely put a Sernandoe reference in GTA 6 just to mock him similar to Jack Thompson in GTA 4,that would be very funny for a mission.

20 years ago today, I begged my mother to let me skip school because I hadn’t pre-ordered a video game. She thought I was taking the piss.  She compromised by driving me to Best Buy  to pick it up. “But I’m taking your ass straight to school immediately after.”

As we pulled into the lot, she scoffed at the idea that a video game was any reason to skip school.  Maybe to buy tickets to see the Osmonds in concert like she did when she was my age, but a computer game?

Approaching the store I rushed ahead of her as she cursed at the sight of the closed doors. We peered in through the window and saw employees lined up like a riot squad behind two clothed tables dressed with merchandise.  She gestured at her wrist then at them but they just ignored her. A voice startled us.  “They don’t open til 9,” this Guy Fieri looking guy told us.

He stood at the head of a line of about 15 people that must formed before we go there. I joined the end.  My mother stood there, bewildered by the sight of this queue. ‘Not-Guy Fieri’ looked back at me and smiled then back at her.

“Vice City?” he asked.

”What?” she asked back.

“Vice City?” he asked.

”I…don’t know” she said.

’Not Guy Fieri’ laughed. I ventured back to the front of the store and pulled my mother towards the end of the line.

We stood there in silence. Two girls no older than 18 appeared behind us, cracking gum.  My mother leaned out from the line to see if they’ve opened the doors yet. Directly in front of us, a lady old enough to be my grandmother.  She turns and smiles at my mother and shows the cigarette in her left hand. She asks for a light. My mother doesn’t smoke but the guy in a business in front of the old lady does. She lights up, kindly exhaling away from my mother.

“Are you getting the game for your son here?” she asks.

“I think so,” My mother answers. The old lady smiles then coughs, not covering her mouth.  My mother  shoots me a look.

“Are you getting it for your son? “ she asks. “Or grandson? Or…?”

“No, I’m getting it for me,” the old lady laughs.

Commotion at the front of the line. ‘Not Guy Fieri’ drops down in a linebacker stance to laughs from friends he’s made in the queue.   A voice elsewhere jokes about this situation being like ‘Jingle All The Way’, the Schwarzenegger movie.

The doors open. Everyone files in towards the tables set up. One of the employees holds his hands up.

“We do not yet copies of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.  We’re expecting copies by noon today!”

People with pre-orders groan. The employee tries to quench their disappointment by telling them they have the Soundtrack box set and Strategy Guide available in stock. Immediately, half the people turn on their heels and leave the store. I spot ‘Not Guy Fieri’ sprinting out towards the parking lot, his hands pointing up like Robert Patrick in “Terminator 2.”  Before I can my ask her if we could try another store, my mother pushes me towards the doors.

She runs ahead of me. I’m too out of breath by the time we reach the car to ask if we can try another store. She’s reversing out of the space before my seatbelt is fastened. She slams on the brakes startled as the guy in the business suit zooms around us in a BMW.  He’s turns out of the lot towards the interstate. My mother follows but  turns right.

“We have to beat the rest of them to the mall,” she says.

My mother puts Tommy Vercetti to shame, weaving in and out of the two lanes heading east, completing a rush hour drive that would usually takes 20 minutes in 15.

I don’t know the layout of the mall but my mother thinks our best bet is parking next to Sears.   We enter the concourse. We crouch down under the shutter gates as the GameStop employee raises them from inside.

As he rings up one of only three copies in stock that wasn’t already pre-purchased, my mother warns me not to expect anything for my birthday the following month.  “This is your gift,” she tells me but she doesn’t have to. We leave the store just as Not Guy Fieri comes in from the direction of the food court. As we leave the mall, the guy in the business suit holds the door open for us. He acknowledges us with a knowing glance, busy with a call.

“I’m just at the pharmacy, my stomach is acting up.” He lies into his flip phone.

My mother laughs once he’s out of earshot and asks if I heard that.

My mother drives through the traffic light, missing the right turn she’d make to take me to school.

“Are you not taking me to school?” I ask.

“Do you want to go school?” She asks, knowing the answer.

We enter our house through the garage. I’m so busy scratching at the plastic wrap concealed the game I almost forget the house rules of ‘no shoes inside’.

“Shoes!!!” She reminds me just before I step onto the living room carpet.  As I pry my sneakers off, unwarranted guilt and embarrassment washes over her. As I rush up to my bedroom, she follows me, shouting that no one is know about her letting me skip school to buy a video game.

“Not your friends, not your teachers, not your father,” she demands as I secure the disc on the tray of my PS2. “Not anyone! And especially not your sister!”

I scroll through the PS2 interface and select the disc icon.  She sits down on the bed, interested to see what all the fuss is about.  We wait for the game to load.

“Can I tell people eventually?” I coyly ask.

”Never.”

“Never?”

The serene Rockstar Games logo plays.

”What about twenty years from now?” I ask her.

She looks at the screen confused as the Macintosh esque Rockstar North logo appears.

“Maybe twenty years from now you can tell them,” she says.

So now I’m telling you.

Happy birthday to Vice City.

For one VI is not Vice City. And they will exactly use the days after that to announce it to the surprise of you. Instead of using the Vice City anniversary. They can do their own thing for it like today.

Yep that's it. They will post today about Vice City and then next week bam here we go.

Spoiler

R* proudly presents Grand Theft Auto Vice City remaster of the remaster.

It looks like it's going to be hard to see announcements this year, and if there really isn't an announcement in the end, is that part of the reason because of the leak?

That said traffic in this topic will probably spike a tiny bit with people expecting something then sharply drop. :kekw:
