GTA 6 Speculation & Discussion [Part 7] - The one with the announcement

One thing is for certain- it's virtually impossible to make a GTA that satisfies everyone, since so many people have so many different opinions on what makes a good GTA, and I'm sure Rockstar knows that. So, most likely, they'll shoot for something wholly unique and distinct core theme wise, like they've always done with previous mainline titles, while keeping the gameplay, new systems and mechanics as accessible as possible.

People expectations: 10 cities, Npcs with real human behavior, to much realism, not to much realism, being able to enter every building, CJ

Everyone forgot about the Take Two confernce call already? It's on the 7th November or something. They still can announce it before that. Tomorrow is not the last day. Not to mention there are still two more days of Rocktober after that. Surely they will announce it already. Surely.

They've had several conferences in the past. Rockstar will reveal it when they are ready to. It can happen before any earnings call. Earnings call are normal business talk.

exactly, its later then usual too afaik. No one said the announcement had to be in October, especially from a company who is meant to be so "unpredictable"

@Jason another reason why rockstar could announce it next year is because they want their delay reputation to go. They probably know that if they announced it this year then next year it’s a high chance of getting delayed. So instead they set a 2024 release target where devs don’t have to feel rushed or anything

I’ve lost all my hope, i remember last year october and the one before nothing happening. Been waiting all year for something now the thought of waiting another year is depressing. I’ve only got into Rockstar Games for a few years I don’t know how you guys who have waiting for more years feel.

And besides, there's always the option to cryogenically freeze yourself until release. Can't be disappointed by anything if you're frozen in a pod.

Yea that's my point p much. If they know it's not or aren't sure it's making 2023 then they may not want to announce it now as it either means 1) announcing it for 2023 knowing it'll be delayed or 2) announce a game out in 2024 what could be two years before it's released.

 

Personally I much prefer short waits between announcement and releases and yea, every time a company publicly delays a game it'll hurt the people making it. It would make sense, especially with the changes R* is going through culture wise, that they intentionally avoid revealing the game until they have a release date absolutely locked in only say somewhere between 8-16 months out from the full announcement.

 

Unless T2, uh, encourage R* to reveal it early for reasons anywho.

 

My own pure guess right now is that we'll get an announcement in the first half of 2023 with a simple 2024 release date (just the year, nothing more).

In all honesty, I think I had a harder time with the five year wait for Kingdom Hearts 3. Though no similar game can quite match GTA, those similar games do scratch that itch. There isn't really anything else that feels like KH though, and that made the wait maddening.

would be interesting if rockstar did that. I think I recall Jason schrier saying that rockstar plan to release gta 6 late 2023 - mid 2024. So if they announce the game early next year we could be playing it sometime mid 2024… 

But yea rockstar have gone through big changes, they’re more a company now so they’ll be doing things better…

Schreier made the same prediction I made earlier this year which is a late 2022 announcement for a late 2023 release that'll inevitably slip in 2024.

 

My prediction has now changed to a Q1-Q2 2023 announcement for a 2024 release, I imagine his too if he had to guess. Still November and December to go of course, but yea I think we'd have gotten the reveal by now if it was out in 2023.

One of the things that made me excited when the videos leaked is that there will be pawn shops, same mechanic from RDR 2 so we’ll be able to sell stollen goods.
