Although Rockstar has made mistakes in the last few years, I still have faith that the story mode for gta 6 will be a masterpiece.

Murder? What's that? I am a pacifist, I get on GTA to admire the scenery, never finished a single game because violence bad and peace good.

The frustration towards Rockstar for posting about GTA Online on a Thursday is kind of entertaining to see :cringekek:

The entertainment will go up a notch after we do get a trailer, some of us here will really go through some meltdowns seeing those articles every single Thursday with an ongoing info drought about VI.

Uncle Sikee Atric

I've had an update, I'm happy....

Oh, not GTA, another game in development.  We've had the 2nd official character introduced.

I hate GTA Online so much.

If it wasn't for GTAO, RDR2 wouldn't be what it is today. GTA6 also wouldn't be getting the - what I assume is a massive - budget that it's getting.

It gave R* time and money to create something amazing, and it keeps T2 happy without them having to push R* to release more games more often.

Confession time: I initially played GTAOnline after launch then like most people completely stopped by the end of 2013--before, of course, the inevitable tidal wave of content that was subsequently produced for it.

Because of all the Tez talk re: the UFO event, I got curious so I bought GTA5 for PS5 and signed up for a month of Playstation+ (R* owes you residuals, @Tez2. I'm sure I'm not the only idiot who did this).

I have to say, even though it's drawn the ire of most people who hate Rockstar Games for over-prioritizing it, GTAO is really f*cking great.  The gameplay, the presentation, and the amount of sh*t there is to do is staggering.  Leslie Benzies once said something like "GTAO is basically GTA6-GTA100" and he was not kidding.

Only complaints of course having to put in a lot of man hours to accrue in-game money to advance (without having to buy Shark cards and f*ck doing that!), the majority of heists requiring others to play, and requiring property ownership to unlock gameplay.

Playing it, I wonder how Rockstar is going to innovate open world games with GTAVI because it seems they've tapped the glass ceiling with GTAO.

The budget for VI is probably massive, most likely $500-600M.

GTAO isn't as bad as people make it seem, if you ignore the modders and heat seeking rockets, it's really good.

That's why I have a lot of faith when it comes to GTA6O. They weren't prepared for how big GTAO became and they still did a decent job with it, this time around they most likely have a team working on it from day 1 and it's definitely gonna be another decade long online.

Yep, I sh*t on R* constantly, and I mean constantly, but their games are still my favourite ones to play and RDR2 still sits as my favourite game of all time.  After the leaks I'm 100% confident in the game.

Before the last update where they ruined Cayo Perico, cash was way easier to acquire to the point where people questioned how Rockstar allowed it to be a thing, and to that point, it is a heist that can be entirely done solo, over the years they learned from the mistake of the original heists requiring 4 people, but they nailed it with Cayo Perico only needing one player for a very good take.

Owning properties is the the paywall to the whole thing though, so yeah a new player will have to struggle with that aspect for a little while.

*looks at the last gta title (5)*

:prismkek:

rdr2 storymode was a masterpiece, gta5 was very good (even if i dont like it as much as older gta titles), but i wouldnt say gta5 storymode was a true "masterpiece"

and with the now new heavy influence of gtaonline i stay skeptical until i play gta 6 by myself

Rockstar never wanted to churn out games like they used to in the PS2/PS3 era. Many former executives have said so over the years. From a development point of view, GTAO is the best thing to happen to Rockstar. It gives them a hell of a lot more freedom to take their time on each mainline project, especially when AAA development times have ballooned exponentially in the last 10 years or so.

Even if GTAO didn't exist, I doubt they'd have made more new games as they had already started working on one project at a time since 2012-'13. Most likely, they'd have tried to get RDR2 out by 2016-'17 (so, more cut content and all), but VI still would've taken 7-8+ years from V. What got cancelled are the story DLCs, which might return if Rockstar truly intends to expand VI post-land with major map expansions and missions. Obviously, nothing is set in stone at this point in time, but none of the credible leaks said anything about those being strictly for online only.

I’ve not played Online since about 2017 because nothing held my interest and I found it far too grindy. I jumped back in a few weeks ago after buying a PC and I’m loving it. There are so many avenues to earn money but I love doing the stunt races, even though they don’t really pay out.

I’m intrigued to see how they handle GTA VI Online after they completely screwed the pooch with RDO. Will everything be more realistically priced? Will it be bare bones in terms of content at first like The Sims games are? Will we finally get dedicated servers?

I’m so excited for this game. Judging by the amount of comments here I’m not the only one.

Kinda the same here. Except I only started playing it recently because my girlfriend does. It's certainly helping pass the time while waiting for GTA VI. And it certainly helps that I played none of it in the past 7 years...

One could use Halloween hysteria to describe the behaviour of this thread over the last few pages.
