Back on-topic: I don't think there's any way to know if this event is two weeks or not just yet until the Newswire releases, but at this point they could just announce the thing whenever and not make it obvious by making the event 2 weeks, who knows  

Oh... the day I wasn't very active here I missed out on seeing some "spicy" takes... what a shame.

29th, someone posted a tweet from R* in 2012 celebrating it and the original 2002 trailer says releasing October 29, 2002. The dates confusion as @Jason said last night most likely comes from the fact that street dates were often breached for physical releases of games, especially back then, so it all kind of becomes a blur.

It was released on the 8th in Europe and since it was developed by R* North which is based in Scotland that's what's matters.

 

But for real I don't think even they know when they first released the game anywhere. It's easier to just correctly map everything before the first trailer even drops than guessing that.

I have a suspicion that perhaps rockstar has freed this week for the announcement, twitter has been silent since Saturday, if nothing happens with online news today, then most likely something will happen tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

Honestly, there are more sources that confirm 29th. I feel like one employee was assigned to whip up the webpage for vice city and made a small mistake and no other employee ever cared to even notice

Was VC released globally on the same day? Maybe thats where the confusion is coming from. I'm in the UK and specifically remember going to get the game on a rainy Friday afternoon straight after school -  but that would have been the 1st of November. I thought I got it the day it came out but I probably didn't.

Vince already said in interviews that he's a big fan of the GTA series, and he kinda always wished that a big open world game set in the Breaking Bad universe would exist. He actually discussed it with some producers back in the day but the idea was quickly scrapped.

 

And I believe Rockstar is a big fan of Vince's work too, since you can find some references to it in GTA V.
