Well he's not a very good writer or reporter. He got his rep from leaking EA games and that has slowly developed into him gaining contacts across the industry. The fact he only writes for what I can only (very kindly) describe as niche websites tells you all you need to know.

 

His style of "reporting" is very disliked among most of the established gaming press, as many of them personally know developers and they know they all hate the leak culture.

 

People like him are also possibly one of the reasons why we're now seeing a lot of games announced very early on, cause people like him literally live off leaking sh*t and they'd rather the announcement comes from them and not people like him.

If you're talking about Jason Schreier, he most likely spoke to someone really far down the chain and he assured them anonymity, which he hasn't broken so far and may never will. He'd get fired from Bloomberg on the spot if he burned sources.

This last sentence of yours is a perfect example to explain what happened to Rockstar, the thing is that there's a possibility of GTA 6 still being more than 2 years away from its release if it will happen in 2025, if they had announced it already we would wait something like 3 years more or less to play what we were seeing in our screens, that puts them in a risky situation, either they announce the game way earlier and make us wait like a turtle waits to cross the street or don't announce it and get exposed to have the announcement stolen from them.

oh please, the female protagonists has been speculation for years on here. Also it was one of the biggest topic for a reason.

Rockstar pays and Remedy makes it, also after Rockstar recovers the money spent on the development all the profit will go to Remedy iirc.

Remakes from the ground up using the Northlight engine, the same being used to make Alan Wake 2.

I don’t think anyone really considers the GTA 1 protagonists to be actual characters though. It doesn’t matter which one you pick because the story never changes. It’s just one character that can have multiple different faces. And on the GBC version you can pick between 24 different characters. Are we really going to say GTA 1 has 24 different playable characters? Sure, I guess you can call them protagonists but they aren’t really characters. They’re just different colored sprites of the same character. That isn’t to say it’s bad-it came out in 1997-but still.

They are funding it.

 

Usually how these deals work is that, in this case, Remedy will see no money from it until R* recoup their investment - note that Remedy are being funded to make it, like contract work, they're not doing it for nothing. After R* recoup their investment Remedy may see royalties from it.

 

I can't remember if specific details were given about the deal, so I dunno if any of this was confirmed publicly.

Rockstar is going to be the publisher I assume though? like they will have control of the game, it's marketing all that?

Publisher, yes. I imagine they'll oversee the development but how much of a hand they have in it varies in these types of deals. They will also pay for the marketing yes, that's part of publishing.

I've been analysing Rockstars marketing tactics recently and i've gone deeply in depth with my research. From what I've concluded, i think it is safe to say that ROCKSTAR will announce GTA 6 any where between this year to 2025. Remember, this took intense amount of research and is just a wild guess but i am confident.

Well, production standards have also changed and games are more complex than ever so there is a chance, of course, that R* is preferring to show GTA VI in a much more advanced state than GTA V was.

Rockstar owns the Max Payne IP so Remedy had to consult with them for the remakes. Rockstar (obviously IMO) approved and are publishing and funding them. Remedy are the developer, Rockstar are the publisher, just like the old Max Payne 2 days.
