We don't remember what Tez said.  so we can't know for sure when GTA 1 came out

Honestly If GTA VI does get announced literally in the next 7-10 days , it won’t be because of a UFO event or any type of anniversary lol  , it would just be a convenient coincidence

Yeah I now recall reading that post but it's been a little while I forgot he said that.

 

I guess the interesting thing there is that the original date he had in there was the 23rd, which was proven to be incorrect last week, but if it was correct, the stealth UFO would show up on a Sunday, slimming down the chances of any teasers or reveals.

Didn’t they move the dates around? Originally it was the 23rd, then another date, then they changed it to the 21st?

They had different dates, the original one was the 23rd, which would have been a Sunday, with a less likely chance of anything happening than other days of the week.

 

I know RDR2 was first teased on a Sunday but still, it doesn't have to be the rule.

Apparently it was ported from MS-DOS over to Windows which may possibly explain the different release dates but I can’t confirm this right now.

I can imagine the atmosphere at Rockstar offices today. Discussing about us how we imagine things, then some higher up walks in, tells that we are just some kids that just meme about WHERE GTA 7. Meanwhile here on forums there are serious discussions and speculations, that they do not wanna hear at Rockstar.

The fact, that only today one of R* North veterans (back in 1997 DMA Design) decided to clarify when Grand Theft Auto was released shows, that they probably enjoy that chaos, a lot

Well I'm certainly not reading through 11 pages  

 

The real GTA release date is an absolute mystery, on these very forums, other websites and even at one point the R* website it said October 1997, but nowadays many places say November 1997, the R* website shows the PS1 date and... a senior R* employee on Twitter said they joined R*/DMA in November 1997 and it hadn't been released when he joined, so I do feel like the actual date is November.

 

There is an article by the BBC that says the game was stuck in ratings hell on 4th Nov 1997:

There's been a lot of bamboozling and uncertainty over the years, I can literally go back to this forum's early 2000's posts and see people saying Oct 1997, but I do wonder where that came from. Maybe a demo, maybe an inaugural release, who knows...
