Oh, for the record, I don't expect anything today, at all. My best guess is Tuesday the 25th. And even that is n estimated prediction with no solid 'expectation'.

I keep hearing about this sony thing that keeps popping up on gta vi "news" lol. That they "spoiled" it to be revealed this month.

Things like the wanted level system, the abundance of weapons, the hospital/healthcare system, the crime, gang/drug culture, etc etc. The US is a very unique cocktail of things that make GTA what it is.

 

Like a GTA in the UK would have little no to firearms, sure some dangerous gangs might have them but firearm crime is relatively rare in the UK, the general population doesn't have them (or want them), police don't typically carry them, etc. That's a massive aspect of GTA that simply would not work in the UK unless they did a sh*tty represenation of the UK, which defeats the point of it.

tbf GTA as it is isn't terribly representative of america either, a game in the uk couldn't do the same treatment of guns but it could work with some changes to account for what guns are used - though it'd have to happen to a degree that it couldn't be a GTA game doing it, since as you said the plethora of openly-wielded guns is a big staple of the series whereas guns here is either hidden from public within gangs, or rural hunting rifles

 

like I could easily imagine a GTA inspired game that still has somewhat heavy gun usage set in a contemporary large uk city, but it'd have to be designed as its own game

Yea, that's the catch. You could if you squint make a GTA game set in pretty much anywhere, but in most places outside the US it wouldn't play or feel like a traditional GTA game. It wouldn't be a seamless blend, so you'd be better of doing a new IP so you could do it properly.

If only Sony would bring back The Getaway name and give it to one of their good studios. I feel like any game set in the UK will probably be set in London but I think a game set in 1980s-1990s Belfast has potential.
