Shareholders don't really work like that. Companies can f*ck up and they can get upset and that can cause issues but R* is a well oiled money making machine, they don't need to do something just to keep them happy.

 

As for keeping players happy they'll no doubt have a Winter update though there's speculation that might be  the last major update, but we've been hearing that for the past 1-2 years of updates lol. Beyond that, they could basically come out and say GTAO content support is over as they move full time to GTA VI/GTAO2 and no one would really moan I don't think.

 

So they don't "have" to do something I don't think, I simply think it's a case of R* will announce it when they think the game is ready to be revealed and shown.

Deffo worse now. GTA as a series is bigger and more popular now, which equals more fans. With more fans comes more trolls. Plus social media, reddit and Twitter being the two main ones, as well as clickbait YouTube videos, there's more opportunity and 'reason' for trolls to make sh*t up and spread lies. 2019 alone had fake leaks practically every single day for a good 6 months or so.

I come from the future, here's what's going to happen tomorrow at 3PM BST:

 

1. Exactly at 3PM the stealth UFO comes down to Los Santos.

2. A beam appears, everyone is already flocking to the fourms/twitter and spamming "ITS HAPPENING".
3. The text "Grand Theft Auto" appears from the beam.

4. GTA Forums and Twitter crash worldwide.

5. More text appears from the beam, "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: The Definitive Edition: Remastered".

6. A giant Grove Street Games logo appears.

7. Everyone crashes to desktop.

Didn't they also mention next-gen only GTA Online content updates? Or was that just small stuff that's already out?

Not yet, that was speculation and rumours. Also because last-gen GTAO has been running like crap for a few years now lol.

None. GTA doesn't work in pretty much any other country over than the US. I think South America would just about work with some tweaking, but very few other places.

 

Now a new R* IP set in a non-US city... the list there is endless.

A lot of GTA's mechanics and systems are reliant on an exaggerated take of US society and culture.

 

Things like the wanted level system, the abundance of weapons, the hospital/healthcare system, the crime, gang/drug culture, etc etc. The US is a very unique cocktail of things that make GTA what it is.

 

Like a GTA in the UK would have little no to firearms, sure some dangerous gangs might have them but firearm crime is relatively rare in the UK, the general population doesn't have them (or want them), police don't typically carry them, etc. That's a massive aspect of GTA that simply would not work in the UK unless they did a sh*tty represenation of the UK, which defeats the point of it.
