Sergeanur
[MSS] DSound3D Software Emulation 64ch DOWNLOAD This is a plugin for Miles Sound System that increases the amount of playable sounds from 16 to 64. Miles Sound System supports different 'hardware plugins' for audio playback. On modern systems you'd usually end up with DSound3D Software Emulation which is only limited to play sounds in 16 channels, while the game needs 27 channels to play sound effects. With this limitation you occasionally end up having sound effects abrupted or not played at all, mostly noticeable during police chases, intense shootouts or dense traffic. In GTA III you could pick Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio instead of DSound3D Software Emulation to get around that (and get some working reverb too), however in Vice City you can't do that. After installing and applying this plugin the game is able to play all the sounds it wants once again. The plugin is not game specific. It works with GTA III, Vice City and generally should work with any game that uses the same version (or compatible) of Miles Sound System. YouTube video that showcases an example of changes How to install and apply: 1. Browse to mss folder in your game's directory and put mssds3ds64.m3d in there 2. Start the game 3. Navigate to Options > Audio Setup 4. In Audio Hardware pick DSound3D Software Emulation 64ch and press ENTER/RETURN 5. Enjoy! Note: the plugin is also compatible with re3/reVC, where the number of playable sound effects was increased to the PS2 level (43 in III and 42 in VC). SparktimusPrime
This mod has fixed a 15-year-old issue I've had with both of these games. You're the f*ckin' man. Thank you so much. NightmanCometh96
Marsi4eg
Plugin is awesome but I have one question - does the original game really add reverb effects everywhere? With this sound plugin it 'reverbs' everytime and everywhere, like in tunnel. Unfortunately it's hard to play with sound like this. I can't remember such high reverb on PS2, for example. I personally prefer EAX Alchemy Fix https://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=27928

Alchemy on the other hand may have an excessive reverb so I would bet it's the culprit.

I got almost every sound repeated, open/closing vehicle doors, horns, speaking etc. sounds like in deep tunnel, while after I switch audio setting ingame to "creative eax 3" (alchemy installed) - I get normal sound. Do you mean conflict between installed alchemy fix and this plugin? OK I'll try to remove Alchemy and test only yours. EDIT: Strange, but reverb effect in this plugin had really gone, after I removed msseax.asi plugin from the game. Thanks for the tip Edited August 12, 2022 by Marsi4eg

Just wondering, is it possible to make a separate version of this plugin but with reverb effects (e.g: EAX and EAX 3 options but with 64 channels)?
