GTA VC Aspect Ratio on PS4/5?

So, I have the PS2 Classics version of GTA VC on my PS5, and one thing I noticed is that, with widescreen off, the aspect ratio seems stretched. Is it supposed to be like this, and if it isn't, is there a way to fix it?

Widescreen on = game is in 16:9 (outside HUD elements)

Widescreen off = game is in 4:3 where ye actually see more at the top and bottom (go figure, applies to all PS2 GTA's)

Dunno how widescreen off would be seen as stretched, unless one somehow has the image in a display stretched to 16:9 at all times no matter what somehow. 4:3 a.k.a. widescreen off should be seen as that image is.

If you disable widescreen, it's wider than 4:3 on the PS2 Classics/PS4/PS5 version for some reason.

Here's a screenshot of the Xbox version in properly scaled 4:3 for comparison (don't have a PS2 on hand):

As you see, if you compare the image in my original post to this one, the PS2 Classics version is wider than it's supposed to be/stretched from 4:3.

Interesting. I dunno to me it looks liek the Classics one is missing information from the top or the top HUD portion is higher in the NTSC version (I presume it is NTSC, plus I don't recall it being that high in PAL). Image shouldn't be stretched though if one asks me, though I have no idea how to fix that.

XBOX I've heard does the wideness right with GTA, dunno how true that is.

On Xbox, it doesn't stretch the HUD, but still does pan and scan.

Compare how wide Tommy is on the PS2 Classic image though, obviously wider than the Xbox screenshot. Same thing with the minimap.
