3-4 years after Starfield we'll get ES6 and then another 3-4 years (more like 4-5) after ES6 we'll have F5. So probably we'll get Fallout 5 in about 8-10 years time. I love Fallout but I'm not craving another Fallout at all. I might miss it and craving it in 8 years time to which then I'll welcome it. But likely it will come out on the next generation of consoles. That's so far way. For some perspective, the time it will take Falllout 5 to come out around the same time that has passed since GTA V released.

They actually didn't hint at Boston or New York.. And I just don't see them going to Boston 2 times in row. That doesn't make sense. The video says Fallout 4 wasn't originally set in Boston, it may have been New York.

I'm just focussed on Starfield. I definitely want a game like Starfield more than a Fallout or even ES.

I love Fallout.

Fallout 3 is top 5 for me. Fallout 4 just didn't scratch that itch. It wasn't that it was bad because it definitely wasn't, I enjoyed it a lot, it just didn't feel like Fallout to me. Hopefully 5 is more like 3 and NV.

The real icing on the cake for me though will be TESVI. I am currently playing Skyrim again, which has made me even more excited for another entry to the series, and I can honestly say I am more excited for that than anything else.

But as @Mister Pink said, we are a long way off Fallout 5. Unless Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda means they will be chucking a tonne of people at various projects to decrease release windows, but I don't know enough about making games and how developers operate to know if that is feasible or not.

I kind of missed NV at the time and although I've played it a little, I never completed it. While I'm not only about graphics, it's kind of hard to get into a game I never originally after 10 years of dated graphics. I can still play San Andreas and enjoy it but that's because it takes me back to when I originally played it. So, I was hoping the rumours of a New Vegas remaster would come true.

Fallout 3 was my first foray into the Fallout world so it hold a special place in my heart. I actuallly really enjoyed Fallout 4, despite it's flaws. I just loved the themes of morality and sentience when it comes synths, The Institute, and The Railroad. I loved scavanging,  settlement building, and crafting.

I think Starfield and ES will be a good indicator of what we can expect in Fallout 5. Thankfully Bethesda have a new baby in Starfield and they're bringing back older-school RPG elements and modernizing them a bit. What works really well will probably go into ES6. What doesn't work so well will be dropped. New features will again be added or features improved upon in ES6 and then what works will be implentented in Fallout 5 where possible. My point is that although I burned out a little on Fallout recently that it's great Bethesda will have a new IP as well as an ES6 before going back to Fallout - hopefully with much more experience and some more fresh ideas.

Imagine Microsoft got Bethesda to do their normal base game of Fallout 5, set in San Francisco and they got Obsidian to do a massive map expansion and DLC which would be a return to New Vegas? Except rather than BGS and Obsidian work indepentely of each other they make sure they share resources and their is a fluid marriage between the base game and the DLC. And when I say DLC, it's almost a game in and of itself. Bring back massive singleplayer DLC in a huge way with a nice 30-40hr story with a huge amount of side quests.

Loved 3 (though it's likely aged a good bit), struggled to warm up to NV at first but eventually grew to like it as much as 3 if not more so, 4 however was pretty meh imo (good combat/exploration but gutted role-playing mechanics).

It would be cool if FO5 was a multi-studio effort. Bethesda, Obsidian and Inxile (Brian Fargo's studio) are all sister studios under MS so it's a very real possibility. Would certainly ease the division within the Fallout fanbase that's been brewing for many years now.

Fallout 3 has a special place in my gaming heart, because it was the first one i played of that franchise. But New Vegas was much better story and gameplay wise. Fallout 4 was even better gameplay wise well at least the gunplay was more accurate, but the story was pretty weak, sure building settlements is fun for a while, but the fun doesn't last long.

I played a lot of Fallout 76, i started playing it day 1 with all it's horrible bugs, i don't regret it, it was a time where i didn't have a good "time burner", i spent like 3450+ ish hours time in it. Well but at some point, you are just so overpowered that nothing matters anymore, then it's all about swapping out one legendary trait for another one, on 3 star items. It just gets very very frustrating. Maybe i go play through the Pitt DLC, when it is released and get one month of 1st for that, for convenience and then stop playing it again. I got 3 accounts, main account has 2 chars (level 550 ish and 450 i think), the other 2 only one each they are like 150 ish. If i play the game i play with 3 computers at the same time, so i can farm mats with macros from extractors, and share perks, i think i share gunsmith 5 and adrenaline 5 with my "share and farm chars". So yeah im like my own 3 man army team. I got like 30 god tier weapons, and like 40 very good weapons, and only like 4-5 legacy weapons combined for all chars, and very good armor for all my chars.

One funny thing is i suggested a game mechanic to the devs, and they actually put it into the game, thanks to me it's possible to consume drinks, food, chems that lay around in the world directly, without having to put it into the inventory first. Yeah i made that happen, kinda funny it's the only game i ever had any influence on. :D

I hope Fallout 5 will be like New Vegas again, with better story, i honestly don't care in what city it takes place, Miami would be nice, or maybe New York or Chicago or something, it doesn't really matter. But honestly it doesn't make much sense speculating about anything, if the game is released in like 8-10 years.

Maybe we are all dead by a nuclear apocalypse by then, who knows the world is so f*cked up atm. The russia and ukraine situation scares the sh*t outta me, who knows what the lunatic Putin does with his nukes. Maybe the covid pandemic never ends and mutates so often, that at some point it has a 90% chance of killing ppl if infected. :sadkek:

Just remaster Fallout 3 and New Vegas while we wait please. You can port Skyrim 69000 times but not Fallout? SMH.

Yeah these two games really deserve a remaster, the optimization is total crap, if it's played on newer rigs. The cpu usage, the ram usage, it doesn't even detect newer gpu's correctly. This even happens in Skyrim Special Edition, it recognises my RTX 3080 as a GTX 760 or something. It's ridiculous.

Fallout 4 also isn't very fun with new rigs, it stutters if played at high framerates, and there is nothing that can be done about it, no mod or tweak or anything helps. But at least the Skyrim Special Edition runs perfectly smooth at max settings in 4K with 120 FPS thanks to mods, if everything else is vanilla.

I hope Starfield doesn't run like sh*t. :D

Well, modders pretty much have those covered.

I know, there's the issue over whether they'll actually get finished or not, but I guess I like to be optimistic.

I hope they go for somewhere original like New Orleans. There's a lot of post apocalyptic potential there.

Console guy. To make matters worse I'm on PS5 so I doubt if they ever get a remaster they'll get ported over but if Skyrim 10th anniversary was able to maybe Fallout could too. I really thought that we would have gotten a remaster by now. I'm surprised that Fallout isn't treated as good as TES is I thought It'd be more popular.

Those mod projects literally never get finished, it's too much work for a small team who ultimately end up moving on or running out of free time - many use those types of projects to build their CV with many modders from those big overhaul projects end up getting hired in the industry, often at Bethesda.

I installed Fallout 4 - Point Lookout mod because Fallout 4 - Point Lookout - Workshop Add Plugin MOD required it, I'll probably never  play  Fallout 4 - Point Lookout, there are two  point lookout workshop build mode mods at nexusmods site

Probably because Elder Scrolls has always been Bethesda's creation, whereas Fallout was merely a property they acquired (prior to Fallout 3).

As for the reason why there hasn't been any remasters, Todd Howard has gone on record saying he doesn't care for them, and would prefer it if the games were played as originally intended.

Problem is the only thing you could remaster would probably be Fallout 4, which not only has no need for one but also no demand. Fallout 3 and NV would need a lot of work if not a remake altogether, and the earlier games would likely need a full on remake.

BGS aren't a big studio and even when their IP's do go beyond BGS they typically still remain under Zenimax, who all have their own projects already.

So basically it's probably just better to do a brand new game instead of revisiting an old Fallout. I suspect we'll see another Fallout spin off before we see the next mainline game from BGS my self, if not from Obsidian than other MS studio.

It’s Todd Howard he’s remastered Skyrim a bunch of times.

It would already be enough if they make it so Fallout 3, New Vegas and also Fallout 4, makes use of newer hardware, make the games utilize more CPU cores, better RAM usage, and make it possible to play with unlocked framerate like it is possible for Fallout 76. It doesn't need a real remake, just a remaster with some background code updated to latest hardware. But honestly the gunplay in FO3 and NV could need some love too.

I mean ppl that never played these games, should be able to experience the story in a good way, just for the lore's sake. Every story driven GOTY game should at least be kept up to date if it comes to hardware utilization, they don't have to make it look prettier, it just needs to work right.

I currently play good old Resident Evil 5, i did 2 playthroughs in the last few days, the last time i played this game was 13 years ago. And believe it or not the game runs perfectly fine, without a single FPS drop, and it still uses DirectX 9.0c API. It works really well with Windows11 Auto HDR in 2160p @120 FPS. Sure it's a linear game that doesn't cost much hardware ressources, but still it really runs perfect.

It's all well and good saying all they need is to be optimised for newer hardware - which is easier said than done for these ancient engines - and an FPS unlock, and they can leave the rest as is, but every single remaster from a major studio that comes out like that doesn't get a good reception.

The general perception is that if you do a remaster/remake then do it properly, or not at all.

I found out there is two Fallout New Vegas remakes and one mod author split off from the original project and made his own,  it even made number one mod of the month in October 2021 at nexusmods  mod is called Project Mojave  the video above explains the mod conflict between mod authors of both projects

Project Mojave only concentrates on one group from the original the video above mentions
