GTAIVisbest
I have a San Andreas steam version that I've downgraded and modded a bit to my enjoyment. However, I realized that I've fallen victim to the infamous rain/thunderstorm bug: As soon as it starts raining, all sound cuts out except for the radio (and sometimes cuts back in intermittently). The sound comes back after it stops raining I've googled this problem extensively and saw a handful of threads... all written back in like 2005/2008. Everyone was using XP, and they discovered that the way to fix it was to turn off sound acceleration in "dxdiag". The problem is, such options have disappeared in Windows 10, and there is seemingly no way to turn off "sound acceleration" nowadays. Since I enjoy playing in San Fierro mostly, the problem is maddening and really ruining my enjoyment of the game. Does anyone know of a surefire way to eradicate this issue in Windows 10? Carl Theft Kumar
I've never had this happened to me before and I have some questions. What mods have u installed by the way? Did the sound bug happen before you installed any mods?
GTAIVisbest
I've installed all the limit adjusters, the silent patch, all the "base" mods like that, as well as a slew of immersion mods. The only sound mod I installed was one called "SAAS", which I've of course tried disabling to no avail. I believe I have a copy of the original downgraded and untouched version of the game I based my modded version of, I can go check to see if the sound glitch is present there as well. But truthfully, none of the mods I've used would seem to touch the sound generation at all
GTAIVisbest
Update: the behavior on my game is the exact same with every single CLEO/modloader mod disabled as with every single CLEO/modloader mod enabled, so there's that The rain actually seems to work perfectly UNTIL you load an area with an openable garage door. Then all sound goes quiet. If you open the garage door and let it close again, as soon as the garage door closes the rain noise comes back. The only other thing I could think of would be the "restored" cutscenes and radio audio that I use to prevent random crashes when getting into vehicles, but I can't imagine that would be the cause
GTAIVisbest
Last update: I did a clean reinstall and renabled my mods one by one. I finally isolated what was causing the bug, and it was.... a handling.cfg mod? That's right, one of the mods I had enabled "GTA V Handling", which was a simple handling.cfg, was causing the sound mod. With the handling.cfg removed, there is no more sound glitch! Now onto finding a new handling.cfg that was as good as that one...
