Game doesn’t look like the screenshots

I have a computer capable of running everything on ultra. But the game looks kind of wonky. Am I just expecting too much of an old game? Or is there some way, beyond the Setting panel, to alter the graphics?

 

I got the Redux mod, it made it a bit cooler. It just looks nothing like the screenshots and vids I see. Maybe GTA V is just more photogenic than it is “videogenic”

I don't know. The screenshots look just like they do In-game. If you're wanting more out of your game that this triple A company, never gives their customers. Vegetation and shader mods are the closest you'll ever get to experience true 'eyegasms'. But these modifications are meant for showcases and not for actual gameplay. Feel free to use the director mode tool In-game and try to recreate the level of accuracy.

To be honest, many screenshots look much worse than the game.

It's because Rockstar tries their absolute best to bullsh*t every promotional screenshot of their games. A pattern you'll notice is a consistently low field of view, heavy use of motion blur, and custom lights placed around characters. Photoshop is just the cherry on top.

 

 

You can try to recreate these effects using mods, but it doesn't come close to the debug tools they have at their disposal. This is a shoddy attempt using the Rockstar Editor.
