How Often do you get Customers at the Auto Shop?

Now that it's triple money this week (as this post is created) I care about delivering cars for clients. I usually let the cars collect dust on the lift for months lol. But it seems to be a very long time between custees. I even bought another lift because I read it can speed up the frequency but I'm not seeing any difference. My last customer took well over 2 days to spawn. Anyone else having long waits?

Every 48 minute are there supposed to be a new customer, but most things are broken in GTAO right now...

Your reputation at LSCM also counts toward your auto shop, higher reputation, more customers at your auto shop.

So visit LSCM often to raise your reputation.

Same lol. I'm rep 1000 and it takes ages for a car to appear.

In my experience if you sell two cars back to back the third one tends to appear faster.

To be honest I never pay attention to how long it takes for a customer car to appear, I just know they will be there when I have to make the collection run on my businesses as I got them all setup close to each other(Strawberry Autoshop and Nightclub, Davis arcade, Little Seoul Agency).

I got 2 back to back tonight after a long wait. (finally one spawned on my 2nd lift) Now to see how long it will take again.

It's really a bit slow, it usually is a ingame day or a bit more for me. But yeah if you got 2 already that wait to be sold, the third is already on cooldown, so if you wait for like 3 ingame days, you can sell 3 back to back.

It's the same with the Nightclub if one of your products is full, if you wait long enough before selling the full stock, the first one is already in your Nightlclub again, directly after you sold it. So the cooldown timer already goes down to 0 before you even got room for it.

That's why it sometimes feels so slow and sometimes so fast. But for customer cars there is only one cooldown timer running so having 2 and another one that you immediatly can get is the max you can get.

I find they customers tend to appear faster if it's YOU doing the delivery, not the staff.  (The only times I get the staff to deliver are when I get the infamous "Corona bug" which prevents me from completing the delivery myself, or if I'm in a hostile lobby) - of course, this is personal observation, not checking the ingame code to see the exact frequency.

its not "upt to 48 minute", it could definitly take longer.

last days I had 3 hours without any customer.

today I have already 1,5 hours without any car....

It takes 48 minutes to get a new customer car, but you have to be outside of buildings and on the map. Rc Bandito and tank doesnt count as being outside, rc car do.

Also it seems that doing a mini heist reset the timer

Im not 100% sure for this but taking part in free roam events or doing business also stops the timer as long you are taking part.

An already tuned but not delivered car also seems that you dont get any further car until youve delivered it but this could also be a bug

I've seen a reduction in customers lately.

I think @Tomtomsengermany is right, the cooldown only goes down while being outside of buildings and maybe while not doing any missions.

So just afking in the LSCM and delivering a customer car every once in a while can't work. I always wondered why i didn't get any new customer cars, while idling there.

Rockstar logic.....a passive income, which does not work, while you are active.....

The RNG for this is just weird, it's a bunch of factors combined which can make it kind of annoying. I've been having customers pretty frequently but I just had a morning GTAO session, did some Nightclub popularity work, a Security contract, a couple of imports, did my daily objectives (incl. a Stunt Race) and got no customers.

However, things become more complicated when you factor in RNG into the formula. Once 48 or 24 minutes elapses, RNG flips a coin (50% chance) and decide whether you receive a customer car or not. If you don't, the coin is flipped again after 24 or 48 minutes. If you do, then there's a timer randomized between 0 (instantly) to 10 minutes. Once that timer expires, you receive the customer car.

I have today.

My post was written with the knowledge of yesterday.

still a silly mechanic, that active missions do disturb the customer circle.

So after 90 minutes or so in a session I finally got a vehicle. I think it's just the RNG (what Tez already posted) that's just weird, nothing much else behind it. Just luck of the dice.

The sad part about all this is a lot of us are gonna go back to not caring about these customers when Thursday comes because of the default low payout when there's so many other activities to do that will get you more pay within that time. If you can afford an auto shop, you are beyond that initial new player hustle...unless you use shark cards from the beginning. I hope Rockstar considers making the payouts more attractive with some of these side missions. I do enjoy modding cars to order I discovered this week.

I feel like when you're doing missions like auto shop preps it definitely affects the timer.

Personally I still do them regardless, it's easy money even when it's not 2x.

I went back to check the conditions that could pause the timer. Here are some of them,

- If you're involved within an activity session aka instanced contact mission/race/deathmatch ...etc.

- Doing VIP/CEO Work, MC Work, Sell Missions, Client Jobs ...etc. Codename IS_PLAYER_ON_ANY_GANG_BOSS_MISSION

- Involved within a freemode event

- Joining a Job Activity or being on call

- If the timer stat didn't elapse yet, 48 minutes for 1 car lift, 24 minutes for 2 car lifts

The rest are common sense, like being inside the Auto Shop interior or not owning an Auto Shop or if you haven't completed the Auto Shop setup mission ...etc.

If you're in the clear, the RNG flips a coin. If it lands on the right face, a bit set is enabled and a second timer is initialized. RNG chooses a value from 0 to 10 minutes for the second timer. Once it elapses, the process starts and you receive a customer car. Keep in mind, the second timer is simply a safe check and your RNG result has been determined already before it starts.

Thanks. So basically playing the game pauses it unless your just taking a road trip or some non mission/event activity, and it's a crap shoot. Got it. Does this include if you just want to kill some time and mess with some cops, gang members or bikers just for kicks?

Nope. It doesn't. You're in the clear if you wanna mess with some cops or go on a 1v1 against some player. As long as you don't participate in a mission activity.
