Bad design, or intended?

Only recently i found the willpower, to beat all games of the 3D Universe, 100% and with optional tasks, even. Missions like Ambulance and Patriot courses, gave me nightmares as a kid, back in the day. What's wrong with Claude, though? Wherever i cruise, somebody always blasts at me, or tries to throw me outside of my vehicle and the overall heat/hostility i receive while minding my own business admiring the scenery, is something else entirely! I followed through the story of course, but our protagonist's performance doesn't make any sense at all, whatsoever. Making enemies out of everybody? Betraying the Yakuzas, who were real pals and then abusing the goodwill of the sister? In a realistic environment, i see Claude as dead meat. Nobody can survive with everybody chasing frantically after his a_s. Especially in mafia territory, your car explodes even while speeding up. Those poor souls who accidentally lose somehow the bulletproof patriot reward, i honestly wonder how the hell they complete late game missions without cheating.

 

I am under the impression such things had been discussed in the past but still, anybody cares to shed some light?

He did anything for money and to find a way for revenge for what Catalina did, for me its neutral lol. On the good side they did it for the realism (even tho not fully realistic) but on the bad side it made the game extremely difficult. At least they went easy on this system in GTA Vice city only with the hatians being hostile to Tommy which didn't make the game as hard as gta 3. I'm pretty sure there are 100% guides if you want to fully complete it.

I liked the concept of it but I think they could have improved it. Atleast they should have turned it off during missions and rampages because it makes for example "Turismo" extremely difficult to complete after killing Salvatore. Also how can 2 shotguns bullets blow up vehicles?
