Why aren’t there any movies featuring a couple who are mobsters?

When it comes to deadly couples in movies, they’re just about all government agents! Not that said aspect bothers me any. It’s just I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanna see a movie with a deadly couple where they are mobsters! By “mobsters” I don’t mean Bonnie and Clyde because they were more small town outlaws. I’m talking about either the Italian Mafia, Russian Mafia, Yakuza, or Triad. So, why aren’t there many movies at all where deadly couples are mobsters? I just wanna know is all!

It's kind of not surprising, really. All those organisations are purely male-dominated. Women were in more gender-traditional roles, homemakers etc. Those organisations also date back to a time when traditionally it was the man that was the chief-income earner and women were homemakers.

You are in a life of crime, you might steal, be violent and rob people. You would also have multiple sexual partners, married or not. There moral compasses aren't exactly there. I think bringing your wives or any spouse to an organisation based on crime, violence and murder wouldn't have been helpful.  It's also like mixing personal relationships with business.

It's kind a of men's club and the less anyone in your family knew like your spouse, the more safe you might be if law enforcement get to either one of you. If one goes down the other can be pleade ignorance and innocence. Who will raise your kids if both parents go to jail? And you will go to jail. Nobody in these organisations cruised through their criminal careers not being locked up at some stage. You go into a sexual, marital affair with your mob colleages and what's that going to end up like?

Having said that, Narcos Mexico is great at showing the strenght of women involved in organised crime but there aren't really couples.

One film that's good is True Romance. They aren't in the organised crime but they rob from Italian American mafia. Written by Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott, it's legendary.

On a biological note..

Males, compared to females, are characterized by more aggressive and competitive behavior in practically all cultures and ages (13). They tend to focus on temporary benefits and gains from their actions rather than long-term consequences and costs (4). Higher risk taking is particularly characteristic for the male population between the ages of 15–35 years, the time when intrasexual competition is the strongest.

The Young Male Syndrome—An Analysis of Sex, Age, Risk Taking and Mortality in Patients With Severe Traumatic Brain Injuries - PMC (nih.gov)

This is just indicative of why men are more inclined to pursue crime. The chances of finding women like men is lower and then the chances of a guy and a gal meeting together and having relationship so frequently that it becomes normalised in a crime organisation is even slimmer again.

I understand. But what about the whole government agent aspect of it? Especially when we’re talking about certain foreign government agents like Russian or Chinese ones? All I’m confused about now is pertaining to how THOSE are SO much more common, on the other hand?

Because spies having a family is a better cover and more convincing. It’s happened several times before but the most recent one I can think of is the Russians in the illegals program from like a decade ago

The OG Bonnie & Clyde from 1967 is really good. Natural Born Killers as well.
