The rewards for collectibles really suck in this game

They suck a lot worse in "modern" GTAs as well, let me be clear.

The only actually useful collectible to collect are Oysters. Being able to date girls regardless of appearance/sex appeal and max out your lung capacity is very beneficial since you'll waste less time doing crap and won't have to train for the Amphibious Assault mission.

The others are Tags, Snapshots and Horseshoes. All 3 give you 4 weapon spawns, each that only spawn at one respective location, which isn't really that useful. For spray tags your homies will also have better weapons so that's a little bit more useful. I mean going through all that sh*t to just get 4 weapon spawns at one respective safehouse is kinda crap, when you could as well have either bought it at ammu nation or just looked for those weapon pickups themselves for that amount of time.

In comparison to GTA III, the hidden packages give you literally every single weapon at every safe house (except flamethrower), and GTA Vice City's (the weapons are hit or miss and only spawn in some safehouses) sh*t like a Seasparrow and Hunter for them, GTA SA's kinda suck and it could have at least given you a body armor spawn at the safehouse.

Kinda random rant, but I always wondered if someone feels the same way as I do about this sh*t. GTA IV's pigeons for example, f*cking sucked too, you had to do f*cking 200 of them for a helicopter that already spawns in more accessible areas anyway.

I agree on that.

I think you'll raise your Lung Capacity enough _while_ collecting the Oysters, anyway.

I agree with everything except the tags, I don't think the Tags' reward is that bad, I mean if the reward is GSF Homies will start to carry Desert Eagles, SMGs and knives instead of the usual pistol and TEC 9. It would be kinda fun if you plan to take on territories with them. Though I kinda wish they would add another reward which is to double your homies' health once you recruited them, then it'll definitely be worth it to spray all the tags.

I never really found recruiting NPCs to be useful, their aim kinda sucks and they rarely ever get a kill even with a good weapon. Plus you're just gonna spray around with the minigun, they'll stand in your way.

Couldn't disagree more! I think they're the most useful collectible rewards in any GTA game. An awesome set of free weapons so you never have to spend a penny on weapons in the entire game, and you can have high powered/expensive weapons right from the start instead of scraping money to buy a sh*tty pistol or shotgun? Yes please. Playing the first part of the game without those weapons is horrible. And they're conveniently located at my main safehouse in each city? Even better. Oysters are also useful as having to change your appearance for girlfriends is a pain in the arse. And I find they're the most fun/interesting to collect since they're more varied than just walking into a package or whatever (but also not totally annoying like the pigeons where you have to shoot and get constant wanted levels).

The collectible rewards in other 3D era GTAs are good too, like in Vice City you also get a nice set of weapons. However you don't get as many different ones and there's no sub machine gun. They get you a Hunter and Sea Sparrow but those things are available to you in SA in other ways instead. And as mentioned the rewards in HD era are worthless garbage. Big fan of the SA collectibles.

Me neither but they can be fun to play around with. Loading like 7 of them into a coach and going on a trip to SF to fight the gangs there, that kind of thing.

"Most useful than in any GTA" is an extreme overstatement, come on. You can easily buy all these guns in ammu-nation (besides, money isn't hard to come by in the game). In San Andreas they only spawn at 1 specific location for each collectible and there are a ton of weapon spawns in the city where you can instead collect even better weapons than the crap you are given. Getting the tags early is somewhat useful for these weapons, but snapshots/horseshoes won't be as useful since you'll already have a crap ton of money by then and have better weaponry than that at that point. Then again, if you're completing those tags early in the game entirely for the weapons, it's better to invest that time just picking up even better weapons themselves scattered around the map.

In GTA III/LCS/VCS you are given 10 different weapons at literally every safe house and there really is no incentive to buy armor or any weapons again since they'll all be at your apartments. It really outshines SA's rewards for collectibles by far since if you want those weapons, you have to drive to one specific place and using the ammunation is faster in many occasions. Besides, if you have a lot of money, and already spent all the clothes and armor, why not at least make some usage of the money?

In Vice City, weapons spawn only in 3 safehouses, but it's still a whole lot better reward because you also get a Seasparrow and a Hunter which won't spawn elsewhere.

As for hiring NPCs, the guns they will wield is irrelevant if you're just gonna do random sh*t like driving a bus.

Vice City mostly had weapons of the same type, meaning you can only pick some, and not all, of them. Kind-a eh. But at least you can have a minigun. For the Sea Sparrow and the Hunter, honestly I barely even drive planes in any GTA unless there's a piece of crap mission that requires no other way.

But since we're primarily talking about San Andreas here, yeah I could give you that. I mean, only four weapons? Really? I mean most of them can actually be powerful and useful ones but still, really? You can't even get a melee weapon, a pistol, an RPG, etc. Not even a minigun for crying out loud, to save the f###ing chore of cruising around the entire of San Andreas just to find one. But thankfully, as you said, all of this is compensated by being able to buy every single weapon (well, not exactly all of them, but yeah) from each type (something which wasn't present in the other games btw).

I do admit the Oysters are pretty useful though, no need to waste time changing appearances just to impress your lovers (honestly I never liked the girlfriend mechanic anyway, thankfully it isn't required for 100% completion) and you can swim and dive as freely as you want. I also like how the Tags give your homies much powerful weapons instead of the typical pistols or SMGs, this way I can finally have more use for them.

I don't have the best memory of III/LCS/VCS so you may be right! The thing I like about San Andreas though is that I can have all the weapons I care about/use right from the start (or at least after a handful of extremely easy missions where you barely need weapons) and for free. And I use those three safehouses like 90% of the time (unless it's during the countryside sections, but I stock up by saving/collecting/saving collecting/repeat anyway so I don't need to collect them often). I forget the others but you can only get all the weapons from the start in VC if you sneak to the second island early, and no submachine gun sucks because I use it a lot. It's just personal preference really but I find the SA rewards the best for me, and I think even if you prefer the others it's still a comparably good reward, unlike later games where the "rewards" are literally worthless.

If you stay under the water long enough.. than yeah..you will get %30-35 percent of Lung Capacity (For all SF and LS Oysters).. 🙂

Tags are really sucks.. i mean you are not receiving 100$ for each tag, getting a wanted level if a cop sees you and not using even during Gang Wars.. You can collect enemies weapons and get 10000+ ammos for each SMG and AK/M4. Homies get deagle and SMG which is nice but they are literally big round sh*t 😀 Actually there are Body Armors around these locations and they are not so far away 😉

GTA Vice City's reward weapons are great but the ammo values are really low... these reward weapons are also "Instant Spawn".. for example take the weapons at Vercetti Estate leave the Starfish Island, head through police station,  wait for the "Welcome to Vice City" screen and go back to your mansion right after the screen.. when you get back to your mansion your weapon pickups will be regenerated 😎

Well yeah, that's my complaint, and the ammo value is low and a lot of them are of the same type. So it was eh. But at least you can't find the Seasparrow or Hunter elsewhere, and it's much more fun to do vigilante missions in a hunter.

Kind a reminds me of GTA SA, the stadium events in Las Venturas, the harder race/event that requires 50% bike skill, Dirt Track, will reward you with a Sanchez next to the stadium if you complete it, even though they spawn a road nearby anyway, while the much easier Kickstar event gives you a brand new Dune truck that you can't find elsewhere, lol.

Something useful you can do with them is to recruit homies with Desert Eagles and to get in a car with them. Each homie will shoot it as quickly as they would with a 9mm pistol, but with a lot more damage per shot.

Honestly, even the homie upgrade sucks because gang wars are not challenging at all. If they were made a lot more difficult, so much more that you would have to use GSF members, then the homie upgrade would be actually good.

Yeah, it sounds cool on paper but in reality it's not much.

The collectible rewards definitely do not suck more than modern GTAs. As you mentioned, the 200 pigeons give you a rarely spawning helicopter which sucks. In GTA IV also if you do all 50 stunt jumps you get literally nothing. If you get the letter scraps in GTA V you just unlock part of the stranger mission. If you collect the space parts you get a crappy vehicle. If you collect the 30 nuclear waste, 30 submarine parts, and 15 hidden packages, you get a very small sum of money that is not worth the effort at all (given they don’t even count towards 100%) If you complete all 50 jumps in GTA V you get a car paint color.

So, I would say that 4 weapons spawning at safe houses is way better than any rewards that any modern GTAs collectibles give.

Evil empire

These rewards would be a bit better if we only received the best weapons with a huge quantity of ammo.

You need to order them to attack other npc. Press right click near that npc and when green triangle show up over his/her head than press left click. Better do that using fists only. And than recruit npcs will attack that npc. Have fun!!! :)

Now you know and you can even order them to kill cops without getting wanted level. Just be sure to not be near cop while pressing left click.

Kinda pointless😛

You can just click them once for a headshot instead of clicking them at a random place so that friendly NPCs take their sweet time to kill them.

That is true lol

But I guess Rockstar create that only for gang wars when CJ have weak weapons.
