Widescreen fix's F5 Quicksave feature not working

Hi, I just recently downloaded GTA 2 from chip.de, and then followed the instructions on this post:

tl;dr: installed the widescreen fix, and then adjusted the framerate.

 

The widescreen fix made the game crash, so I searched some more and found this fix:

 

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/DgVoodoo_2

 

The game works great in widescreen with no crashes.

 

However, when I press the F5 key, the game does not autosave.

 

It's really frustrating because even though I made $50k there is no in-game map and I can't find the church for the life of me.

 

How do I make it work?
