Zello
The Vita failed for a lot of reasons but I think what killed it early was no GTA title. The PSP had LCS in the first year of it's release followed by VCS a year later and those two games helped sell some consoles. When the Vita came out in 2012 people were assuming that eventually there would be a GTA title for it. Now around the time that the Vita came out Rockstar was very busy working with GTA V and it's understandable that they couldn't take the time to work on a Vita game. But dev kits come out early years in advance and they could have gotten Rockstar Leeds to work on it or outsource it to another studio with Rockstar supervising them. The Vita was also a lot more powerful than the PSP and could have handled a couple more ambitious projects. I'm more surprised that there weren't any GTA clones for the Vita. If Rockstar didn't want to do a GTA then someone could have stepped in but I'm guessing they all saw that the Vita wasn't worth it. universetwisters
Imagine if GTA VI was supposed to be Vita exclusive. Think about it, GTA VI = VIta
Mr. Galloway
I thought San Andreas Stories (starring Cesar) would be made. But, nope. Zello
HOW'S ANNIE?
The issue here is that they really didn't have any existing maps to use. By that point they were "done" with the 3D era and didn't want to use San Andreas, and HD era LC had been used to death. And before anyone says it, do you really think Rockstar would try and create a brand new map from scratch for a spin off game? They can pour tens of thousands of hours into tweaking a new map during the development cycle. That's why LCS, VCS and Chinatown Wars all used setting from the main instalments. Space Cowboy
It's more like the lack of AAA titles in general, not necessarily (just) the lack of GTA title. Although I agree, GTA game or really any other AAA game that could have been a system seller for Vita would definitely boost Vita's popularity. Still, there were other things that contributed to Vita not being an attractive system to buy - the memory cards were expensive and worst of all Sony has abandoned the system pretty quickly. I always thought Sony would secure some AAA titles for the system (maybe even a GTA), but for some reason they abandoned it way too quickly. From what I heard, the system received a lot of support from Japanese developers, but those were not the usual popular AAA titles, which the system seriously lacked. Plenty of stories they could have done. Prequel or even a sequel to IV. Though people would have gotten sick of it but an original GTA for the Vita? Even if it's LC again that's a good enough reason to buy it. They could have also done a Red Dead spinoff. Though that would have been risky. There's also Midnight Club but around that time I think the devs who worked on Midnight Club were pissed with Rockstar and left. 12 hours ago, Space Cowboy said: It's more like the lack of AAA titles in general, not necessarily (just) the lack of GTA title. Only AAA game that I really remember that got a big push on the Vita was AC Liberation though I could be wrong about that. Kinda wish Volition could have reworked Saints Row Undercover as a Vita title and not cancelled it. Edited May 25 by Zello Ivan1997GTA

They could've easily ported GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas over to the Vita. Several PS2 games got PS Vita ports, including Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper, so why not GTA?
