What car is this that's been harassing me?

Two times recently I got into it with two different tryhard types, and they started chasing me around in a car that I'm not sure what it is. I don't super duper pay attention to every last car in every update anymore, so maybe this is just a normal vehicle on one of the web sites, but I couldn't figure it out. It was:

- armored (tanked at least a few direct explosions; also I got close enough to one to see that it looked visibly plated on the outside)

- equipped with a missile jammer (I tried fighting one with the Oppressor and found that I had to free aim shots)

- equipped with bulletproof or bullet-resistant glass, I think (tried shooting out the driver on foot, and got a lock-on, but he just ran me over)

One of these guys was just driving around the whole lobby actually, whipping sticky bombs at people and seemingly impervious to most kinds of counterattack. I wised up and called out a tank, but he just ran away when I did so. What is this vehicle? Almost seemed like an armored Paragon except for the missile jammer.

Thats funny.. But it sounds like the newest Buffalo stx or sum like that. It does tank an unreasonable amount of explosions.

Good to know, thanks. I'll have to snag one. I have a few other Imani Tech cars but not that one. Thing was very annoying to fight against! :D

I had a similar experience a week or two ago: Two kids in what seemed like an armored Schafter V12 (maybe a Buffalo STX?), chucking sticky bombs out of the window and impervious to any sort of damage. It wasn't Imani Tech because I could look on and hit it continuously.

Hmm, the mystery deepens. I definitely couldn't lock onto the last one of these I battled. I flew above/behind it for some time, free aiming shots due to lack of lock; hit it directly, or right beside it, at least 3-4 times without blowing it up. I think that was the same one that ran me over which gave me a decent look at its paneled sides.

Might have to cave and ask one of these knobs what they're driving, if it happens again!

EDIT: Had to be the Buffalo STX. https://gta.fandom.com/wiki/Buffalo_STX

"When the Armor Plating upgrade is equipped, the vehicle adds armor paddings on the sides in a similar manner to the armored vehicles featured in the Executives and Other Criminals update. However, it gives a much higher resistance to explosives in general. It also has bullet-resistant windows, which are able to withstand 15 rounds from most firearms before being shattered... The Buffalo STX, along with selected vehicles from the same update, can be modified with a Missile Lock-on Jammer, which prevents the lock-on system of the Homing Launcher and other weaponized vehicles to target onto it."

And it looks about right in the pics, though minus the armor plating. Well, mystery solved. That thing is pretty nasty in the hands of someone who knows how to throw a sticky bomb accurately. Jenkii--guessing you squared off with an STX that just didn't have the missile jammer equipped.

The buffalo is the most common of the new imani tech vehicles. I hunt these down like vermin.. They scurry away to their nearest garage if they can. I call the buffalo the ummm... Well it's kinda not important what I call it. But anyone behind the wheel is usually uh... Well again, nevermind. It's no mystery.

Would be curious what you're hunting them with. I found them very obnoxious. I can free aim missiles well from helis or the Oppressor, but they tank so many of them that it didn't really matter; I'd get a few shots in and they'd just go to a garage or LSC and reappear, fully healthed up. On foot, the bullet-resistant glass would just let them run me down, and again the armor would protect them from an RPG. I'm guessing you're a jet or attack helicopter guy? It's the one thing I didn't try, real military hardware. (Except my tank, but it was too slow to catch them.)

Typical Rockstar design here, stacking some reasonable mechanics together to create a thing that is kind of OP. Though I'd still rather deal with these than a persistent Mk II or Lazer, I guess. At least these things are semi-ignorable as long as you don't get close enough for them to throw a sticky bomb.

In a way, this car is a funny comment on the evolution of GTA Online. When the game first came out, a fast car and an accurate sticky bomber was one of the most deadly threats you'd care to face off against, other than a Rhino; no one was good with the helicopters and Lazers were rarely seen since you had to steal them, plus no one was good with them either. I remember seeing backward supers with small (or no) rear windows terrorizing entire lobbies for long stretches.

Nowadays, the equivalent version of the same thing requires a missile jammer, bullet-resistant glass, and armor plating--otherwise it would be a smoking wreck in about five seconds!

If it looked like a Paragon as you said, I think it was definitely a fully Imani-upgraded Enus Deity:

Deity: Custom Paint Job by Ultra Krysis

To hunt this bullet/homming missile proof cars it's a little bit tricky.

They usually get too cocky and careless on this cars, so I usually climb on top of a planter, phone booth or a small wall to have a higher ground and avoid been run over.
Most of the time they throw themselves at you, so use the new Compact EMP Launcher to stop them instantly at a safe enough distance to use a FMJ or high caliber weapon to pierce through the windshields.

EDIT: you can also install them a Remote Control Unit, so don't be surprised if you see one of this cars run on their own like a high budget Christine.

Interesting. Seems like the Deity and STX have basically the same features. Go figure that the cars I bought and upgraded from that update are... all the other ones!

The STX with the lock-on jammer has become my daily driver. It keeps me protected most of the time, and it's great against Mk2 vermin. They chase after me close to the ground firing rockets aimlessly, and I just chuck a sticky at them and blow them up. The bullet-resistant glass is very helpful as well. In terms of top speed, it's as fast as some of the top super cars, making it exceptionally quick.

A game changer for me too, although I drive the Deity; it makes most freeroam activities far more balanced and weed out the noobs from the really skilled free-aim shooters.
Griefers/tryhards are mostly lazy and non-creative folk, so without homming missiles they're toothless puppies.

I admit, I only bought a few Contract vehicles that looked cool to me, and mainly played around with the Mil-Spec in remote control mode to annoy my friends. Obviously I need to show these things some more love, and buy a couple of new ones.

I always make sure to have an assault rifle with FMJ rounds in my loadout to deal with Imani vehicle’s bulletproof glass.

And you can kill the player when they are in using the RCU,  just gotta shoot the "driver", for Auto/Assisted aim it locks onto the drivers seat.

There are 6 total: https://gta.fandom.com/wiki/F._Clinton_and_Partner#Vehicles_Available

The additional features are all the same, so the vehicles pretty much only differ in speed/handling, number of seats, and the Patriot Mil-Spec can have a bulletproof rear.

They are mostly defensive vehicles, but if a dickhead is going around griefing in one, a Lazer will make short work of them. They are only really a threat to players without access to flying vehicles.

Um...yeah, they're not OP very easy to counter. I love the contract Vehicles for giving me freedom from Oppressor idjits. I mean, I can fight em and they don't often attack me at my level but, I shouldn't have to do that or roll around in a nightshark.

Now that I know the deal, they're not bad. But I was trying to fight these guys on foot based on prior experience with a whole battery of other armored vehicles (Kuruma, Nightshark, Insurgent, etc) and finding that all the normal tactics didn't work. They were too armored to blow up quickly, and the windshield too bulletproof to pop the driver before he hit me or whipped a sticky bomb at me (note: I don't usually carry a weapon with FMJ rounds, but intend to start). And of course, any mememobile is borderline useless against them. It's just a new layer in the game's meta, I guess. Have adjusted since this thread based on the comments here. In fact--I've found the quickest way to deal with these is just to call for my own and see who wins the sticky bomb war first. As a day 1 veteran who has thrown more sticky bombs than Ammunation sells, so far it's been me.  :)

Get a machine gun with FMJ bullets, it will make quick work of the guys inside thinking they're protected by their bullet-resistent glasses.

Of if you got money to blow: The Flak Cannons one-shots them.

Thats false. Auto aim won't lock on the driver in this case because there's no driver in there and the player character despawns from the map.

I once found myself having to do deal with this back when the Contract DLC was still fresh, and quickly found out my Combat MG was not locking on the driver(I thought he was ghosted).

There's a new glitch that makes players invisible on consoles, you probably killed the invisible player that was on the driver's seat.

Not claiming that it does, but a *proper* Lazer pilot should have no issues taking these out.

Unless they go hiding of course, which is why I said they're mostly defensive vehicles.

protip 5 sticky bombs on the grille including over the machine guns

It doesn't tank any explosives. It blows up with one explosion.

That was my impression too. The Ignus had been the main car from that update that I was using (and it's great for time trials), but I don't think it's durable like the Deity/STX.
