Cannot save, cannot load, always reset settings. And the last straw was it froze the PC after saving and had to reset.

Hello to all.

1) Steam version:

2) downgraded to 1.0.4.;

3) put in a too many mods: had to cancel one by one and try the game till it works;

4) the ScriptHookDotNet.log gave the following:

06) the commandline is:

-availablevidmem 2045
-nomemrestrict
-norestrictions
-noprecache

07) Before downgrading GTAIV, it was working properly: no gliches, no frame issues, was happily driving in a VANILLA busy traffic (traffic slider maxed out); the last missions played was "Rigged to Blow".

08) Right after downgrading GTAIV 1.0.4, I can NOT save anymore NOR load any save files. I have converted the ones linked by catsmackaroo in his YT video "ULTIMATE GTA IV Setup Guide | Mods, Performance, Etc"; the downgrader has made it's own folder, but when I quit the game, the new saved file is not there nor anywhere:

09) this is GTAIV's root folder, and on the side is the folder with almost all the mods installed:

10) removed "ZMenuIV_v22.05.15.1" (trainer) as that was one of the mods that prevented me from starting the game from the beginning.

11) Not only I cannot save nor load, everytime I start the game all the settings have been reset: graphics, language, etc. And everytime I've to restart the game from "The Cousins Bellic". Until the problem persist, I can't even play since i've to redo all the time...

12) I've used this solution for the resetting settings (

), but since the last save the PC froze, I couldn't verify just yet if it'll work. I couldn't even alt-tab nor alt-f4!

Retried playing:

1) all the options are the default ones (graphics, language, except some buttons that are untouched, and autosave is on!);

2) still stuck from the first mission;

3) scripts work (ArrestWarrant_v1.0.5, FirstPersonV1-22, etc.), but when it saves automatically, it freezes, and then goes out of the game.

You have XLivelessAddon istalled so you may store savegames and settings locally for troubleshooting. Create empty subfolders  e.g. _savegames and _settings in game folder, edit XLivelessAddon.ini and set

CustomSettingsPath = "_settings"

CustomSavePath = "_savegames"

Remove dsound.dll, launch through  GTAIV.exe, start new game, configure graphics settings ingame and finish first mission, try saving on the bed into empty slot, exit and relaunch the game, see if your settings and savegames are retained.

Thank you very much for replying and for helping out. "Sadly" I've uninstalled and re-downloaded it to start fresh again. Will post in another page an update with a question I've in mind.

By the way, PM!
