Do you have to save the assassination missions for the end in order to afford everything?

I know you can get a billion+ if you save them until after the main story, but how much would you realistically make if you did them organically, throughout the story? Also, this is WITHOUT access to BAWSAQ, since I’m playing version 1.0 so no network features. 
 

Would you still be able to afford the golf course and all the other expensive properties? Or did Rockstar actually intend for players to do them all at the end of the game?
