Battle of the reveal trailers: GTA IV vs. Red Dead Redemption

No one's gonna vote for the RDR trailer, and that's a fact.

I would def go with the IV trailer.

I remember the official website had a countdown for the trailer (similar to 24 the TV show).

 

 

 

Upon its release, the website crashed, and from what I recall, didn't go back up for several hours.

Prob due to so many people watching it, and YouTube wasn't as big back then.

Both had their own charm. cannot say one is better than the other, but I was anticipating IV's more in March 2007. RDR remains my favorite as a game, though.

Both are masterpieces but I go with RDR1's simply because it made my imagination go wild and it was unlike anything Rockstar or anyone had done before ... like the wild-west setting was so fresh and the reveal trailer captured this magic perfectly in my opinion. But ye, it is a tough choice, GTA IV's reveal trailer is a monumental moment in gaming history, the first HD GTA game with all new physics, graphics and a mature story!

yeah... I hear ya.

 

I can say that RDR's had a warm feeling to it, you know, like a spring-summer vibe, whereas IV's had a chilly, cold feeling like in Autumn. even the actual games had those feelings/look to them. I'd say that even as a game, RDR was cheerful and chill compared to IV.

GTA IV’s launch trailer is the perfect example of saying a lot with showing very little. The music, tone etc. Masterful.

 

I miss trailers like this. Gaming trailers are too generic nowadays and overemphasise irrelevant details.

They also have a lot of prerendered CGI crap and staged things that look nothing like gameplay itself. It makes me wanna wrap myself in tinfoil and throw myself off a bridge!!!!!
