Best Way To Rip Interiors From IV/EfLC?

So... yeah, exactly what the title says.

I am not exactly making a mod, currently I just want to rip some interiors for XNALara. What would be the best way to go about this?

 

I figured perhaps I'd just rip each part from the files with SparkIV or OpenIV+3DS, but of course I would have to move some of the parts to the correct spots, as furniture is often in the dead center when ripped. Is there some kind of reference in the files as to the positions of each piece? If there is (surely there's something, otherwise the game wouldn't know where to place things, right?), I am unaware of where to find it.

 

Or is there some more practical way of doing it that I'm not thinking of?

 

Bit of a sidenote as well if that's cool: Where is Bernie's apartment in the files? IV and EfLC's files are sorted somewhat differently, I have a harder time finding some things in IV versus EfLC.

I ripped some interiors from GTA 4, but i did at as you described, i.e. ripping every part with OpenIV and moving it manually into position. As far as i know, there is no other way. There are files that seem to contain position coordinates; for each img archive, there are Item Definiton Entries Files in the main folder. These files list the objects for every scene and i guess the stuff behind each item is position data, but it's of no use without some kind of automated tool to process this information (unless you want to spend hours punching in xyz-coordinates for each object).

You can find Bernie's apartment in the main game in the folder: maps - interiors - generic - public_3.img and the files start with "pub3_bern..."
