Problem, Grand Theft Auto III crashes when starting the game when I changed the settings/savegame files.

Hello there, so I recently have changed my computer and I have decided to reinstall GTA 3 and continue my progress and stay with my old savegame file and settings with the mouse sensivity, brigthness, sound, graphics settings files all of that from my previous and old computer and make sure everything staid the same even the radio music.

But as soon I import my config files or better said the "gta3.set" files to "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\GTA3 User Files\gta3.set" the game crashes suddenly when I run him. I have tried many fixes SilentPatch, Ensure Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is set to the default, searched already in GTAFORUMS for similar problems but didn't find anything close to that, tried to follow this: (https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_III#Game_refuses_to_start) but I still can't find a fix for it.

I also would like to inform the savegame file, it's working I have all the cars in my garage, money, and missions done and working fine, but the game refuses to accept the imported "gta3.set" and crashes.

I had rewritten the default file delete it and copy paste it, but once again game crashes, might it be something with resolution because I am running 640x480 and Set Compatibility mode to Windows XP (Services Pack 2).

The game keeps crashing anyone knows the fix or can help me fix this issue ?

Format fix

You found the solution. The game doesn't like it when you use the wrong config file that was made for a different system. How hard would it actually be to recreate your old settings? I can't imagine it would be that hard.

Yeah I can make that but I don't remember how it was.

But you are saying me it's impossible to import the config files to my new computer ?

There is a way of solving this or I am doing anything wrong? If so why do pcgamingwiki teach us how to import the config file in the first place ?

Or why rewritten in the defautl one doesn't work aswell ?

There seems to be a lot going on. I'd try doing what DEALUX has suggested. Go back to the standard installation and set your settings manually inside the game.

I'd also ask if you had any mods installed previously? Specifically mods that modified the main.scm file, because saving a game with a modified main.scm file will not allow you to load the save from a standard installation.
