How do you delete a prop placed by mistake?

Can anyone please tell me how the heck I delete a prop in race creator that I placed but now don't wanna use? I can select it, move it, change it to something else but cannot find anything that tells me how to delete it! Tried several tutorials and no luck...

Go back into prop placement, then maneuver carefully until the cursor is exactly over the prop you don't want, and the bottom line of the menu should switch to the name of whatever it is. Then hit the delete button ([del] key, or Blue-X). Then you'll probably delete something else by accident, so back all the way out w/o saving then try again. You did save before you tried this right?

 

Or for the nuclear option, there's an option to delete all props.
