Unspoken OH Posted May 4 Share Posted May 4 The game (digital edition) no longer goes by the name of "Grand Theft Auto V", it is now called "Grand Theft Auto Online". Regardless of which edition you bought on PS5/XSX, this is the name you'll be seeing from now on. I think this is a not-so-subtle indication from Rockstar to tell us that they don't give a sh*t about the story mode anymore. I mean, yeah we all knew that already but now Rockstar has made it official. They would literally completely erase the SP component if they were a tiny bit scummier. The game looks annoyingly bad for the most part. There are a few improvements but it ain't worth $40. I swear the XB360/PS3 version feels more authentic than this dog sh*t. I just hope Sony finally comes up with an all-out PS2/3 emulator so I could probably enjoy the PS3 version of this game at stable frames. Its almost impossible to google or look for discussions about anything related to GTA V without using "-online" or putting "singleplayer" in quotes. Other than this website, almost every board or forum for GTAV will assume you mean multiplayer if you just say "GTAV" without specifying singleplayer and then even when you use “-online”, you are emitting every page that even has the word “online” in it, which will probably be tons that include the word somewhere but aren’t focused on GTAO, so the only option is to sift through hundreds of irrelevant videos/discussions/articles to find what you’re looking for. one time I was complaining about how they removed the ability to leave your car running when you get out of it from GTAIV, and a bunch of replies were like “you can do it! Correct, all of them. Exactly! I was even thinking about those subreddits when I was writing that. I dont understand why they need GTAV and GrandTheftAutoV. Both of them have around the same number of subscribers iirc. Even the most recent PS5 re-release was developed for the solely purpose of perpetuating Online. I don't know about you, but in my book GTA V and GTA Online are two entirely different entities. The former is one of my favorites games of all-time while the latter I couldn't care less about. It just saddens me that so many people think V/Online are one and the same and will continuily dispose all their Online hatred into V. Greed is ruining the legacy of this legendary game. It's gotten to the point where people buy (or bought, since they're separated now) the game only for the Online part. They legit paid up to 70 bucks just to ignore half of the game. They had no idea of the amazing singleplayer campaign and thought GTA V was just another multiplayer shooter. Rockstar themselves have given up on simply calling them GTA V and GTA Online, as people automatically assume GTA V is the Online game and GTA Online is just another name for it. That's why they started calling it GTA V (Story Mode) to avoid confusion. It's sad. It's getting completely ignored and forgotten. R* have been really keen on sh*tting on their legacy in the past couple of years.
