my biggest complaint for this is that if it releases alongside the DLC then we would all have to reinstall the entire game the day it comes out lol. all 100+ gb, hopefully they will announce it alongside the new dlc announcement and allow us to preload the E&E before release day. My internet isnt that great 100+gb will take half the day for me

Yes this could be a issue, so a preload Will be great or it's own release in my piping dreams :sigh:

PC gen9 exclusives ?

vehicle, clothing or something like a brand new treasure hunt ?

perhaps an exlusive livery..

considering gen9 cost money on console and I doubt they charge for it on pc, don't expect anything more than what came with console

hopefully they add a fishing minigame exclusive to pc only

don't get your hopes too high

let me rephrase that...

there is zero chance they charge for pc, they would have to make a separate executable and it would only split the playerbase

The problem is, considering some of the technical aspects that have leaked in that Launcher metadata leak, they do seem to be wanting to keep the previous version alive alongside. The fact they are calling it "High Spec" internally also makes me think it is supposed to be a separate experience on a separate executable, much like the Gen8 vs. Gen9 versions.

No idea if they'll charge us or not, it's probably safer to expect that they will (great if they don't!), but even if it is as simple as a Steam branch, or an automatic app entitlement if you own the previous version, there's large differences in assets (ray tracing data, texture formats - the renderer has changed in this version) and code between the versions - so people will regardless have to download a new version of the game unfortunately. Most likely won't be different than the Gen9 version when people migrated from Gen8. Maybe it'll release before a DLC rather than alongside one, but we'll see, this could be 2025 for all we know.

it would be a very pleasant and welcomed change if they offer a free upgrade for limited time or something

but considering take two record... it's wishful thinking really

i dont see them supporting two branches of online. My best guess as for why they would keep the gen8 version active is to not break mods and most importantly FiveM stuff that are built over the gen8 game. But if you want to play vanilla gta online, my bet is the gen9 version is your only option.

thats what they did when they released e&e, if you owned gta 5 already it was free for a few months, then it was like 40 dollars or something

Potentially, but technically they will have to support two branches of online regardless as I'm sure they aren't just gonna kill the Gen8 versions.

It's going to be really interesting to see how they're handling this.

I really do hope this isn't some Minecraft versions dilemma where Gen 9 is an entirely different version and not some QoL update everyone's been asking for.

They added PC Game Pass support to the game with the Bottom Dollar Bounties update, so I expect they will take advantage of that when the Gen9 version launches, especially since Microsoft has shown interest in securing RDR2's Gen9 version on Game Pass from day one. They may even include it within the Games with GTA+ library as well.

Maybe they'll handle it like gen 7 to 8 transition, keep both branches active for some time, then phase the 2015 release out.

The difference is that there was never a Gen7 version for PC. It launched directly on Gen8. So the PC version didn’t technically undergo a transition.

Almost 2 years later and we haven't even got an announcement, what's going on?

@Tez2 any thoughts about how the release might be?

It's own thing or in bundle with December DLC?

I Guess we cannot rule out 2025 March/April

I don't think its going to be a paid upgrade. This is the difference between PC and Console markets. When people say "rockstar has no competition" it's true, but you have to remember that on PC they're not only competing with other games, but with the work of modders. Why pay 10 bucks for an upgrade, when I can pay 10 bucks for NVE and have everything that offers + some.

Also how will FiveM work with yet another iterration of GTA V? And since rockstar now owns it , there's no point to begin splitting the playerbase.

I believe we're getting the upgrade for free, and getting GTAO standalone.

For the record I think it should be a free upgrade, but there is plenty ways to get players to hand over the 10 bucks.

- Completely abandon last gen.

- Let players choose which one to play but only new gen can get online.

- Both can still can get online but no qol/dlcs for last gen.

etc etc

In fairness I don't think this is a fair comparison at all, an overhaul graphics specific mod versus a new version of GTA V that does give you some new features, especially if you play GTA Online.

I'd prefer it being free too but comparing this to NVE isn't exactly a solid argument.

The fact that the metadata leak seems to imply this is a separate title option is making me think it's entirely separate and not just an update as I said, so... We'll see how it's handled tho. Either one of the options uNi posted above are valid.

Imo, that's just GTAO standalone.

It very literally says that the title is called "GTA V - High Spec" and it's a separate title named "gta5_gen9", and the Online Services platform config ("pcrosalt") is different as well, to fully distinguish both versions from one another. I could see them using Launcher branches because it internally supports that feature too, sure, but there is nothing suggesting that is GTAO-only.

From the looks of it we are getting GTA 5 enhanced and RDR 1 soon on pc but I can't really see Rockstar releasing both before the end of the year.

I think we will get one this year and the next early 2025. No way either release close to GTA 6 as they will be trying to get as many double dippers as possible.

Rockstar will be looking to promote GTA+ on pc as well so maybe we might see some sort of bundle or promotion.

Interesting few months ahead

Imagine You Buy GTA V E&E ($9.99) with 1 month of GTA+ as bundle, so we virtual billionaires with first world problems can claim the 100 car garage 👀 and never actually pay for GTA+ in the future.

Sounds legal ish to me

What would be the first thing you guys doin in E&E

I guess most of us would go straight for the HSW stuff but after that my goal would be to find a kitty .. and stare at it

HSW for sure, but also some of the exclusive content like vehicles, and getting started on Career Progress plans :p

Make some garage space logistics...

Complete hao intro with the turismo classic...

Buy the original 5 E&E exclusive cars and put hsw mods on them...

Upgrade every existing car that has hsw mods...drive them all...

Jump to career progress...

It's gonna be a joyful day, sorry BOSS not going to work that day 🥲

You cant access the garage (in person) once GTA+ expires iirc

You can access it and even take your cars out (obviously), just not put anything new in there afaik.

Not sure about access but you can request your vehicle from mechanic and return them back but can't store new vehicles.

As far as i know You can access it Even if GTA+ expires, SO if You get GTA+ 1 time You can fill it and then keep the Cars inside forever

You cannot add new vehicles.
